Inspired by Simon recent post announcing purchasing his first car, and knowing at at least Corey and Will may have some interest, I'm wondering what everybody's first car was.

I know I'm dating myself with mine, but most of you already realize how old I am already so;
1970 Porsche 914-6. Bought it used after I got out of the service in 1972.

My first new car was a Buick Somerset Regal. It was black with a red interior. Eww.

A Hyundai Pony, used of course...drove it into the ground practically. One interesting repair was when the gear shifter broke off in my hand while driving!!! That was a moment I'll never forget. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

A used '71 Ford Maverick, it was the ugliest green color with a black vinyl roof but it had a great engine the guy I bought if off of had it souped up for racing and boy could it fly

Mine was HORRIBLE! I had a 1975 Chevrolet Phoenix with a PUSH button radio, and the interior roof was bubbling up and hanging down, my mom was SO proud they got it for 500 bucks ;)

Used 1982 Mercury Lynx. Blue. Hatchback. I bought it with my own money. $600.00. A fortune for a 17 year-old. The car was awful. But it was mine, and I loved it.

1965 Ford Mustang - a hand me down from my dad.
Boy do I wish I had that car now!!!

My grandfather would find his grandchildren these old used cars for our first car. Mine was a Dodge 400. We called it the gold goober. I refused to drive it after I had to call the fire department for the 2nd time :scared1: because it would keep running when you took the key out, then overheat, then smoke, etc. It also had a short in the horn and would randomly honk as you were turning the corner. And the head liner was falling down. But it got me where I wanted to go, at least until that second fire. :lmao:

'75 Olds Cutlass, donated to me in 1985 from my Grannny

'79 Toyota Corona

Yup, it sucked. And when I totaled it out 2 weeks after it was handed down to me, I bought an awful Ford Escort.

Tried to go back to the previous page and posted in duplicate. D'oh! Hope Paul doesn't see it!

65 Ford Mustang. I wish I had it now. Have followed NASCAR since before I started driving. I wanted to be a mechanic and got a job doing that but my father put his foot down and said I wasn't going to be a mechanic.

A blue 1969 Dodge Coronet with a 440 engine that I bought for $150.

I drove it forever and then gave it to my brother. It died with over 300,000 miles on it and the only door that still opened was the rear, passenger door.

Oldsmobile Delta 88 royal bicentenial package 1976. "Das Boot"

Jeff

My first car was an 1988 Chrysler LeBaron, however it was quickly followed by an 1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88. It also had a nickname, but one I might not share on the boards!! :rotfl: It had this awesome habit of stalling in intersections!

Jeff: I know you are old, but I have you beat. My first car was a brand new 1964 Corvair Monza. It was a dream car. A very safe car by the way,
unlike what Ralph Nader used to try to make you believe. Never ever had a problem with it.. My next car topped that though. A 1967 Pontiac GTO
powder blue convertible with wood stearing wheel, crome wheels, sterio,
400 cubes, 360 hp with a 410 rear end, air shocks, slicks. I still have the invoice which was for $3200.00. Now you can try to guess my age???
HA HA.

By the way I had saved my money and paid cash for both cars.

John

My first car was a 1978 Pontiac Bonneville (powder blue) that my parents bought from my friend's grandparents in 1989! It's name was Bradley Ukx. 'Bradley' means 'wide clearing' (any of you seen a '78 Bonneville?) and 'UKX' was on the license plate. I only was allowed to keep it for the summer (no cars at college!) and my parents sold it to a friend. The friend was not interested in locking the doors and was surprised(!) when Bradley got stolen. Poor Bradley!
