Oh remember the good old days when kids went outside to play from after breakfast until bedtime...coming home only long enough to eat?? Some of my fondest childhood memories come from getting together with the neighborhood kids to play! My favorite was kick the can! What was yours???

Tracy : )

I don't know if it was the favorite, but the first one that came to mind was SPUD.

We always played out-of-doors when we could. Lots of fun memories with friends and extended family. :sunny:

I loved Red-Rover, jump rope, bike riding (no helmets and we lived) and we were actually allowed to ride around town by ourselves. ah, the good ole days.

I remember leaving after breakfast and playing all day with the exception of stopping for lunch. our favorites were hopscotch and roller skating (the 4 wheel kind with a key) Remember trying to put your skates on your sneakers, ruined many a pair and always had skinned knees when you came across gravel. But we were tough. Oh yes jump rope both traditional and chinese. Anyone remember making chinese jump ropes with rubber bands. So much fun.:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Yes, how about Red Rover. You know "Red Rover, Red Rover, we dare Danny to come over. So fun, but many a bruise in that game. :thewave: :thewave:

Oh man, there are so many!

double dutch

stickball, of course we had to play this in the street

handball on the side of a building

flies up (side of a building or on someone's stoop)

hide and seek

skully (again in the street)

steal the bacon

block parties in the summer

I loved growing up in Brooklyn. There was no such thing as a play date. You just went outside and played with the kids on the block.

The kids in our neighborhood also loved Kick the Can. We also liked Flashlight.

I live in a very family-oriented neighborhood now, and I *rarely* see the kids outside playing. One family has 5 kids, and those kids are outside a lot, which I love to see. I always wonder what the other neighborhood kids are doing.

I loved spud! I was a big fan of manhunt, I loved playing that in the dark on a hot summer night!

I always played with kids in the neighborhood outside, and I'm not that old. I lived in a development that was fairly lots made up mostly of young families, so we still have kids riding bikes down the street, drawing chalk cities on the driveways, and playing baseball on the front lawns.

OK, what is SPUD!!!?????
I totally remember that name but can not think of what it it.

I loved playing hide-and-seek with all the neighbor kids at night. I was really good at hiding. Whoever was it would go past me half a dozen times and not even notice. Kickball was fun too. One neighbor kid (Adam) and I were nominated as team captains.

I loved playing kickball and dodgeball (oops, can't play dodgeball anymore - not politically correct  )

Ooh that was one of our favorites!! Some of the other games we played a lot were hide and seek tag, kickball, and running bases.

We played kickball. In fact, two streets joined up in an odd manner so that the four corners formed a perfect home, 1st, 2nd and 3d. We called the area Four Corners Memorial. Boy, as I type this I can still hear Donna Ranieri yelling "CAR". Thanks for the memories. :tilt:

I so Loved Chinese Jumprope !! Oh yeah and we played Kickball. Chase ( Kinda like Hide and seek But in teams) Oh yeah We did not play Dodge Ball oooooops we callled it Murder Ball!
Oh yeah and not only did we ride our bikes, Skates ( yes those metal ones with a Key!) without helmets. But we also Rode 2 on a bike with 1 on the Handle bars of couse I still have that scar!!!

We also Baked Cakes with a 100 Watt Light bulb and NO supervision!! Oh yeah rode in the front of the car ...... No car seats.
