You guys gotta go check out this little blurp at Drudge. Pretty dress, could have used a slip. I think she's missing a few marbles.

Drudge

I am beginning to wonder if she lives on the same planet as the rest of us.

Personally, I think it would have made quite a statement if the judge had sent her home and told her to come back in something more appropriate.

Sadly the life of the rich and famous is very lonely life. I agree they are not on the same planet as us.

I think this young woman is a very troubled person and she is crying out for help.

She is also saying that her shoplifting was to get in part with a role that she will be playing in a movie. She was blaming it on her producer.

What, they were out of slips at Saks? Next time she needs to bag the entire ensemble.

Therapy is definitely in order.

Man, I learned that in elementary school! :earseek:

She is definitely not all there considering she was shoplifting stuff she could EASILY afford. And wouldn't you think her lawyers would've told her how to present herself in court especially with a thousand cameras around!

I think she's a few peas short of a casserole!

Personally, I think it's her very unbalanced way of trying to win over the male jurors:eek:

Hey, it's better than the 'I was getting into character as a shoplifter' defense:rolleyes:

I think that you may be on to something:D . Perhaps she could go without ANY undergarments, a la Marilyn, and sweep those male jurors off their feet. Of course, EROS would never be taken in by such "desperate" behavior.....:p :p :p :p

...you know what they say, JUSTICE IS BLIND.

Personally, I can't really tell from the photos how innapropiate her attire was. . . are there any other sources for this besides Drudge?

Of course, even if the description is exaggerated a little, it is obvious that her recent behavior has been more then a little "out there". . . and the "I was told to do it to prepare for a part" excuse is pretty lame. .

I will say though I can't understand why this has gone to trial. . . certainly she shouldn't be given any special breaks because she is a celebrity; but I'd think any average person who could afford a lawyer would be able to cut a deal, pay restitution, and be put on probation for a first-time offense like this. Anyone know if she insisted on a trail? Or are the prosecuters playing hardball for the publicity?

I was wondering the same thing Willy, I swear I heard somewhere that she is being treated harsher than your average shoplifter.

Right Ahhmom. . . I can't remember where it was, but I recall reading something to the effect that after not looking so good in some high-profile cases like the OJ and Menendez Brothers trial, the DA's offfice in LA was looking for a slam-dunk, high profile case they could use to repair their reputation. .

Again, the young lady appears to have some emotional problems, and she certainly should have to answer for her crime. . . but I seriously doubt prosecutors take every first-time shoplifter to trial and press for the maximum 2-years in prison sentence. . .

Plus I doubt slamming Wynona Ryder in the big house is going to help their public image much at all. . .

She seemed so normal before all this. :teeth:

I think what makes people a little less sympathetic in Ryder's situation is that most people think of a shoplifter as a person that can't really afford something & thus steals it, but when it's a matter of a person that could easily afford the clothes, it's seems like the person is stealing just for the thrill of it. Kind of like finding out that Bill Gates is boosting cars.

She is also saying that her shoplifting was to get in part with a role that she will be playing in a movie.

If that was the case (and I have my doubts) she should have gone to the store manager and said "I'm preparing for a movie role. I would like to try to shoplift a few things, which I will return as soon as I get outside the store, and you not tell your staff about it to make the experience as real as possible."

I think most stores would have jumped at the chance to say they helped a start prepare for a role. Now she adds lying to her resume as well as shoplifting :(
