What was the worst thing you ate?

I agree! I did find that the omelets were not bad though...if i had to pick one thing i would stick with those...

Just an FYI (and a little OT), they will make omelets from Egg Beaters or from egg whites if you ask. My DH was in heaven when he found out they'd make those for him.

Well, the worst thing I had on our transatlantic was, believe it or not, a hot dog. It was like half salt. Bleccchhhh! I simply could not eat it and had to get something else for lunch. (The single best thing I ate was Eggs Julia at Palo. O!M!G! I wanted to lick the plate clean. This is only for folks who like smoked salmon, though.)

Scrambled eggs from the buffet...always too runny!

Blech!! I don't think they are eggs, but some powdered form with protein snuck in...always always go for the omelet, I can actually see them crack an egg....

Bacon, I'm sure someone on that ship is getting the one good piece of bacon, but when I hit the buffet it's a slaughtered fest of hardened pork? Blech!

Since we could not get into Palo, we had heard so much about the chocolate souffle and our server knew we loved chocolate, he was so happy to present a chocolate torte of sorts that he knew we'd love...we all about DIED when it went in our palate...oh my goodness...just think mud pie with water and some flavor of BLECH in it...even my mother had to spit hers out...it was hideous..turns out everyone thought it was and no one could figure out what went wrong...just think soggy bread soaked in rain colored with brown food coloring and grit like dirt....oh, after it's sat out for 10 days.

Eww!! Funny, I loved that shrimp cheesecake app! it was delish! :)

sushi!! it was awful in 08... we didnt bother this past cruise.

the bratwurst was awful this past cruise! (not a fan of the waffles either). dont eat scrambled eggs, but they were runny. dh would just get a made to order omelet.

I second the Bratwurst, bland and spongy.

OK, I'm in the minority, but I think the eggs are very good. In fact, I really looked forward to breakfast every morning and always got the eggs. Guess I'm not a picky eater, just glad to eat good food with someone else doing the cooking and the cleaning up. It always makes me wonder what 5 star dining people are so used eating every day that they are so critical of the food on the Disney cruises.:confused3

Well, I guess that's one advantage to being allergic to crustaceans......not worrying about missing the bisque. :lmao:

I am with you. I am also allergic to shellfish and fish so that limits me on food choices. Nice to know that I am not missing out on things like the bisque.:lmao:

I think it can vary from one cruise to the next. I was on the EBTA last year and most of the food was delicious. We did a B2B with the first Med and the food was pretty bad on that cruise....same food, same ship, different results:confused3 I do know there was one time I went to Topsiders for a dinner buffet and the food was terrible. I couldn't eat any of it, and I chose about 6-7 different items. It was all dry and chewy and gross.

So sometimes I think it's just the luck of the draw. You can get the same dish at 2 different times with 2 different results.

I got a cream cheese and olive puff pastry off of one of the midnight buffets, but it was some sort of fish instead. Wouldn't have been a problem, except that I'm allergic to shellfish and my friend is vegetarian and the server (who we told our food issues to, so she could tell us what to avoid) told us we could eat it!

My DD votes for the strawberry soup. She says it tastes like peto bismol.

Allergic to shellfish here too. It does limit many menus.

I never can find anything to eat off the Pirate Night menu. And everything I did get, I just didn't like it. I was sad to see no changes on it. At this point we are doing B2B on the Dream and I'm thinking that would be a good Palo night on the second leg.

I hated the duck confit on the Lumiere's menu. I had seen this dish made on Top Chef and the Food Network and I was excited to see it on the menu. It was disgusting! It reminded me of canned tuna drenched in oil with no other seasonings, inedible. What a disappointment!

I'm with you. I like the eggs :) Though I don't like them runny so I try to get from the top of the dish.

I also like the bacon.

Someone mentioned the strawberry soup...I loved the old style but on our last cruise it was strawberry MINT soup and it was bad.

The worst thing I ate was .... too much!!!

If I didn't like something (which was rare), I got something else and didn't give it a second thought. In fact, DW and I swapped food quite a bit. She'd take what I didn't like but she did, and I did the same.

My only problem was a food allergy (bell peppers) and some things I wanted to eat, I couldn't. I'm used to it, but it doesn't stop me from wanting to eat something that looks or smells good.

I had the duck comfit mentioned above and liked it. I also tried the escargot and liked it. I usually looked over the menu (or the buffet) and got things I figured I'd like (and almost always did), or things I'd not had before just to see if I would like it (and I usually did).

The bisquits and gravy weren't up to my standard, but it beat no bisquits and gravy which is what I usually end up with.

Three of our tablemates on the Dream maiden voyage ordered the Sesame Rock Shrimp with carmelized onion cheesecake as an appetizer. None of them could get past the first bite. (Personnally, I thought it sounded awful just reading it on the menu).

I had it last week on the Wonder and would not recommend it...

Worst thing I ever ate? I can't remember. Maybe the soggy bacon. clearly they bake it, but they don't bake it long enough.

I don't think the eggs are bad at all! but, everyone likes there eggs different.
I like mine soft scrambled or over easy so I guess that's why I don't have an issue with them. Try the omelets if the scrambled eggs don't turn you on.

Also, as far as shellfish allergy, I have the allergy too. And they will make the same dishes w/o shellfish if you ask where applicable. Clearly, they can't hold the lobster from the lobster ravioli. One time they had an alfredo pasta with some kind of shellfish. I told the waiter I was bummed because I love alfredo but could not order it because of the shellfish. He said no problem and brought it to me without the shellfish. It was delicious.

Are the pancakes better at Triton's/Lumier's? My DD too loves pancakes but they are like frisbies. I don't know why they don't keep the pancakes in a steamer to keep them moist.

I used to think people were silly spending money eating meals while out on an excursion when they could eat on the ship. Not anymore. I think we get tired of the same old stuff served on the ship.

They had tuna tartare on the Wonder when I went in '09. Little did I know that 'tartare' is French for 'raw'!! Hated it!

:rotfl2: This is how my DD started eating raw tuna. She will have plates and plates of any of the raw or lightly seared tuna appetizers onboard. Think of 4 or 5 plates of tuna sitting in front of a 16yo and you will see the happiest kid on earth.

First and foremost it was the coffee. Now I know this is a beverage so imwill say the hamburger at cookies.

One more thing I forgot to add. If there is something you don't like please let the server know. They will bring you something else. Also, if you can't decide let them know too because they will bring you one of each of whatever you can't decide on. They did this to me once. couldn't decide between the steak and the chicken. And, voila they brought me both.

then I felt bad because I couldn't finish them. I felt like that guy in Life of Brian. I was waiting for our server to ask me if I wanted a wafer thin mint.

Hubby ordered this on the Wonder in December and I thought that it was awful and he liked it!:confused3
