What Was The Last Book You Read?

I loved "The Devil Wears Prada" -- great beach read. I'm starting "The Nanny Diaries" today.

I just finished "The Three Miss Margarets" by Louise Shaffer while sitting with DD in her wading pool. It was a good book!

PS I love you

Just started Kristin Hannah's "The things we do for love"

I just read PS I Love You also. I read that one before Bet Me. I really liked PS I Love You, but I was a little disappointed with the end. I don't want to say about what in case someone hasn't read it and wants to. It didn't bother me enough to say that I would never recommend it. In fact, I definitely would. I just wish that one thing about the ending was different.

I'm the same way as you when it comes to a good book. I just can't put it down. Here are a few I've read in the last month:

Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah - This is about a woman who reunites with her sister after many years.
Flirting with Pete by Barbara Delinsky - This is about a woman who finally gets to know her father after his death.
The Summerhouse by Jude Deveraux - This is about 3 women who are turning 40 and are given a chance to go back in time and change a moment in their lives.

These are all light reading books but great for the summer. I get my books at Costco. They have great prices and all of these were/are on the NYT bestselling list.

I've never read anything by Kristin Hannah. You are the second person to mention her, so I might have to try her out.

Flirting With Pete was an excellent book. I got to read that one before it came out through a book club thing. EXCELLENT.

Summerhouse is another excellent one. Loved that one. You should read the Mulberry Tree. That one is WONDERFUL. It is also by Jude Deveraux.

Barbara Delinsky is my favorite author. She has a fairly new one out called The Summer I Dared. That was a good one too.

THE WEDDING, by Nicholas Sparks. I loved it!

I've read all of Nicholas Sparks' books except that one. I just totally missed it. I read The Notebook before it was a bestseller. I read it when it was very first released. I got it as a Christmas gift. I lent that book to more people than the library did their copy :) Unfortunately, I loaned it to someone who never returned it :( We just saw the Notebook and I had to reread the book. I liked the book better the first time.

The Wedding deals with characters from the Notebook, correct? Which ones?

I just finished The Da Vinci Code - that was very good, I got the giggles a few times over the places in Paris they were talking about and the fact that the "get away" train was headed to Lille which is where DH is from. I also read Babyvill by Jane Green which was good and funny as well!

Currently in my list of things to read:

Against All Enemies - Richard Clark
My Life - Bill Clinton
Thieves in High Places: They've Stolen Our Country--And It's Time to Take It Back - Jim Hightower
and a couple of Nora Roberts books my mom passed along

I just finished Karen Kingsbury's "Reunion". It is the 5th book in the Redemption series. Excellent books.
I have her other book "A Moment Of Weakness" next to me, to re read.

Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl. I just finished it last night. It was a truly remarkable book journing the author's time in a concentration camp during World War II.

It was a hard book to read but I am so glad that I did because it really made me think.

I read this book for my philosophy course, and I adore it. I also used it in a presentation for a history course. The first half is about Frankl's time in a concentration camp and how he managed to endure it. The second half is about a therapy that he created. I prefer this part because he presents stories from patients. I understand where he's coming from, and I think he's found something very useful to others. I've read it several times. Highly recommended if you're interested in concentration camps, philosophy, or psychology.

DD(13) & I usually read the same things over the summer so we can discuss them. (I started that when she was younger to help improve her comprehension.) We recently finished several series by Tamora Pierce: Song of the Lioness, Protector of the Small, The Circle of Magic, The Circle Opens.....

They're all fantasy books. We got them from the library - a whole series at a time so we could read them in order. Both of us actually enjoyed them a lot!

We are just finishing up another fantasy series by Patricia Wrede: The Enchanted Forest Chronicles. I wasn't terribly impressed for the first few pages - they read like children's fairy tales....Once there was a woodcutter. He lived in a forest.

It took me a couple pages to appreciate the humor in her style. She wove aspects of many popular fairy tales into the stories. It was actually a quick, fun read!

I just finished Sam's Letters to Jennifer by James Patterson. I thought it was good, but not great. Definitely not as good as Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas.

I am currently reading a book called Angry Housewives Eating Bon-Bons (I loved the title and had to buy the book!). It is about 5 women who form a book club and a friendship. It starts out n 1968 and goes all the way to the present. I am realy enjoying it!

Eat Cake by Jeanne Ray. I love her writing and characters. She also wrote Julie and Romeo, and Step,Ball and Change.

I also read Joy School by Elizabeth Berg. It was a quick easy read about a girl growing up.

I just finished books 11 and 12 in the Left Behind series!! I couldn't put them down!! Now I want more and there aren't any!!

Likely to die - Linda Fairstein

I just saw Sam's Letter to Jennifer and wondered if it was as good as Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. That book was so good that I think I gave it to three people for Christmas.

Angry Housewives Eating Bon-Bons sounds like it would be my biography :) Although my title would be Angry Housewife Eating Pringles. It sounds like a good book. I might have to check into it.

I need to find a bookclub to join. Anyone belong to any online book clubs (meaning book club where you read a book and discuss it, not Doubleday)

The last book I read was Wanted: One Perfect Man by Judi McCoy- very different alien story (wasn't expecting that, but well done). I also recently read Boy meets Girl by Meg Cabot (I didn't like this one as much as her Princess series) and Girls poker Night by Jill Davis- good. I am in the middle of Bad Buisness by Robert B. Parker by far my favorite author I love his Spenser Series.

AnnMarie! Hi. I loved that book, too. I am looking for other stuff by her (Lorna Landvik) to see if I like it as much.

I recently read Jaqueline Mitchard's "Theory of Relativity" and that was a good book.

Walking to Vermont by Christopher Wren. The author retired form the New York Times and decided to walk from Manhattan to Vermont, his retirement home.

:D
