I just finished "Bet Me" by Jennifer Crusie. It was a very good book. Very easy to read and light hearted. I love a good book. Only problem is that I love a good book. I started this one last night and just finished tonight

So, what was the last thing you read and would you recommend it to anyone?

Well, lets see, I read all the time. I guess the last book (not read for class) was The Watermelon King by Daniel Wallace (he also wrote Big Fish).

It was a bizzare dark comedy...I enjoyed the story and the style Wallce wrote, splitting the book into two disticntly different styles to better tell this bizzare tale.

Its certainly not for everyone, it's very dark...but if you like a that kind of thing. I reccommend it.

I am currently reading a book called "For Cardinal Fans Only" a compilation of stories told by fans of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team. I find it to be quite entertaining and love hearing the stories of this prestigious franchise. Its a good read if you appreciate baseball (especially the redbirds!).

Good thread by the way, I need to find some new books to read.

I LOVED the movie Big Fish. Is the Watermelon King along the same lines as far as type of story?

PS I love you

Just started Kristin Hannah's "The things we do for love"

The Dreamcatcher by Stephen King. Weird but enjoyable.

I'm the same way as you when it comes to a good book. I just can't put it down. Here are a few I've read in the last month:

Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah - This is about a woman who reunites with her sister after many years.
Flirting with Pete by Barbara Delinsky - This is about a woman who finally gets to know her father after his death.
The Summerhouse by Jude Deveraux - This is about 3 women who are turning 40 and are given a chance to go back in time and change a moment in their lives.

These are all light reading books but great for the summer. I get my books at Costco. They have great prices and all of these were/are on the NYT bestselling list.

Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl. I just finished it last night. It was a truly remarkable book journing the author's time in a concentration camp during World War II.

It was a hard book to read but I am so glad that I did because it really made me think.

The last book I read in its entirety was Bergdorf Blondes. A very light read for vacation. I brought Helen Fielding's new novel with me, but could never get into it. She is the author of the Bridget Jones books. Her newest is disappointing -- I can't get past the third chapter -- but I haven't given up on it completely, I'm going to try and read a little more this weekend.

Well I am currently working on the Left Behind Series. I just finished Apolloyn and working in Assassins now.

I read several books at once it seems. I have one book that is a study on the effects of divorce on children. I just finished "The Devil Wears Prada" I am in the middle of "The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood" and in the middle of reading The Lord of the Rings Series again. Each book I'll read when the right mood hits me :)

Flight Lessons by Patricia Gaffney, very good. Going to B&N today to find more of her books.

I thought the same thing about Helen Fielding's latest. It's definitely not up to par with the Bridget Jones series. It does get better as it goes on but it's a little weird. As for me I just finished the Helen Fielding book and am working on My Life by Bill Clinton- that should take a little while. :)

The Goodbye Summer and Saving Graces are also great books by her. ::yes::

I just finished Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. It is Robert Langdon's first adventure and I think I liked it better than the Da Vinci Code. Now I am looking forward to reading Brown's latest, Deception Point. Has anyone read it? I was hoping it would also feature Robert Langdon, but I don't think it does.

Wow, what a coincidence -- I was on the plane with a lady sitting next to me -- I was suffering through the Fielding book while the lady next to me was reading the Bill Clinton book. How I wanted to ask her to trade!

Just got done with The Golden Buddha by Clive Cussler. Just like summer, it's a nice light reading. I've got Jeffery Deaver waiting for me.

I'm about to start Venus and Mars on a Date. Now THIS is an interesting book!!! Think this one will be done in no time at all. :teeth:
