......... you or your child, etc. has ever said about a family vacation?

When our now 17 yr. old DD had just completed third grade, we took a vacation to Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown, Monticello, and several of the Civil War battlefields.

We had previously toured Mount Vernon and also Abraham Lincoln's Birthplace. DD was not impressed with Monticello and loudly proclaimed while standing in line that "once you've seen one dead President's house, you've pretty much seen them all!"

We were a little embarrassed then, but can chuckle about it now!

What are your memories/experiences?

Hi Pam, great idea!

When my son was 5 (and a huge Sesame St. fan) we were on our way to Myrtle Beach, and he asked us if they spoke Spanish in South Carolina. I guess he wanted to impress someone with his limited Sesame St. Spanish.

That is too cute, Sandy!!:D

Anyone else? Class? Anyone?

You know the song stuck in the middle with you??

All three kids were in the back seat, ages 3, 10 and 14.
My 10 yr old daughter was getting aggravated with her 3 yr old brother. He was in the middle and loves music and kept banging his head on the seat and at the same time kept bopping both girls in the mouth over and over.

That song came on and my 10 yr old starting singing very loudly (and she's the shy one) stuck in this car with you.

One year while on Vacation in Western Nebraska, stopped at Chimney Rock, after taking pics, etc, I told the kids to take a good look, it wouldn't be that tall the next time they see it. (I was figuring erosion) Next morning while reading local paper, says Chimney Rock hit by lightening the night before, knocks 5 ft off the top. Kids tell me to not say anything like that again, or it will be gone! They still remind me of this.   :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We went on our last trip to WDW in 2000 right before I got pg with my youngest. My middle DD was 2 at the time and absolutely loved it....she still talks about it every day. After I got pg and subsequently had the baby she kept asking when are we going back and I'd always say, 'when Ashleigh gets a little older'.

Well, one day Ashleigh was being a real pill and I jokingly asked my middle DD 'do you think we should just take her back to the hospital?' She got so upset and very adamantly said 'NO!, NO, Mommy don't take her back!' I smiled, thinking how nice it was that she loved her baby sister so much...until she added....'then we won't be able to go to Disney World!

These are hilarious.

I haven't got any stories of my kids and the funny things they have said on vacation, but I do have a doozie of a trip report, Snoopy & Family - WDW Vacation in a DOUBLE STROLLER from HELL, somewhere around the boards. I think Dan still has a copy of it, actually. That was one messed up trip is all I can say.

When my sister was little, she had an tendancy to say whatever was on her mind without regard to social graces, so as we were being escorted to our room in a swanky Maui resort, my mom pulled her back a little bit from the bellman and told her to watch herself because this was a nice hotel and we got the cheapest room they had. My sister's eyes got really wide and she asked (very loudly), "You mean there's only one cheap room in this whole hotel and we got it?" I guess she thought we were going to be staying in the janitor's closet or something. :teeth:

These are great! The only one that stands out for me is when we went to Pennsylvania for the day and my mom asked my then 2 year old daughter where she went. She said she went to "Pennsylcovonia". To this day, we call it that. :D

When I was in second grade I went with my parents to D.C. On the day we were to tour the White House, my mother told me we were going to the president's house. I vaguely remember feeling disappointed that we only saw formal rooms full of beautiful furniture. I expected milk and cookies in front of a tv with the president, I guess. As we left, in a crowd of people from the tour, I turned around and put my hands on my hips. Loudly, I proclaimed, "Well, I didn't think THAT was so hot!" I'm sure my mother's face was beet red! :D

We took DS (2 at the time) to Yellowstone one summer. We were fascinated by the geysers and mud pots, so we spent a lot of time one day walking about and watching them. Finally, we headed to our car and our child looked up and asked what was next. DH replied that we were going to go to another area. What would we see, DS wanted to know? DH said there was an interesting geyser he wanted to check out and maybe we'd see some animals. DS sighed loudly and said, "More mud, more hot water!" We still laugh about that. Guess it all looked the same to him.

Oh, I thought of another. Once our family was taking a tour of an old house. DD saw a beautiful, old candelabra and asked all of us if we had seen the "candle-bra". We all hooted, DD included!

These are all very good! I am really enjoying them! Nothing really happened while we were on vacation, but when DS was about 3 he pitched a fit wanted us to go to the interstate and stop at a motel because he wanted to go to the ocean behind the motels. We finally had to take him and show him that not all motels had oceans behind them.

My family and I had to run quite a distance to catch the boat at Fort Wilderness.
We got on the boat at the last minute and found seats.
I was a little embarrassed when my daughter loudly exclaimed,
"Wow, Mom! I didn't know you could run!"

My son was 5 when we took him to the MK. His favorite ride was PoC. We went on 4 times. When we were at Epcot, we did the boat ride in the Land and were seated in the front row. The ride operator/narrator asked my son if he had been to MK yet and what his favorite ride was. Ty said yes he had and his favorite was the Pirates of the Can o'Beer! I thought the guy was going to fall off his seat he was laughing so hard!

Just as the ride began he announced to everyone else on the boar that his new buddy Tyler highly recommended a ride at MK....Pirates of the Can o'Beer!
