What was the first resort you stayed at?

We camped at Fort Wilderness in 1979 at Christmas when I was 2.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge on our honeymoon in 1995, and yes it did set my expectations high for any other resort. I have now also stayed at the Contemporary- so two deluxe resorts down..I think I would be disappointed to stay at the All Stars or Pop Century after having had stayed at these two resorts, but I would rather stay anywhere on site than off site. I would love to stay at the Beach Club someday...

Our first ever trip to WDW we stayed at the Poly and loved it...dreamed about it after. We went again and stayed at the Poly same thing..it felt like coming home.

Few years later we tried to book the Poly but couldn't so disappointed we took the BC. It blew us away. Now its the resort we measure all others against.

Love remembering those first visits...truly magical

Our first on-site resort was the CBR in the early 90s (stayed off-site in early 80s when EPCOT first opened). I can remember turning the corner to enter CBR and seeing the sign and the manicured grounds and thinking, "Oh, yeah! This is going to be great!" It was! I went back out to the car and had the family come in just to see the check-in area. I still remember walking around the lake every morning. We did try to stay off-site for a few days a few years ago. DW and I agreed to never do that again. There is truly some magic at the on-site resorts!

My first Disney resort experience was as a teenager in 1985 at the Contemporary. I'll never forget it! We got upgraded from one of the wings to the tower and had a view of the Magic Kingdom. We thought the PARKING LOT was stupendous from up there! The room was just a modern marvel to me - we all still talk about it. I stayed there again later with a family I babysat for and liked it but by then I'd stayed with my boyfriend (now DH ) at the GF and it had won me over BIG TIME...Now I'm really interested in AKL and just cannot WAIT to try it out next month. But the Contemporary for me has definite sentimental value...

Our first stay on property was Dixie Landings. We loved it there & it was so wonderful we stayed there the next 2 years, as well. We had visited WDW several times before, but after staying at Dixie we knew we would be returning to the World every year. Even though we now try to stay in the Epcot resort area whenever we can, we visit POR each trip. Still enjoy dining at the food court before taking the wonderful, romantic boat ride to DD after dark. A beautiful resort!

Yacht Club was our first trip on property. We fell in love with SAB and B&C. We had to eat at B&C every trip after that first one. I love their cherry cokes!! Annmarie

My first trip to Disney was in 1983 & I was 11 years old. We stayed at the Royal Plaza in Downtown Disney. Fast Forward 16 years later...Old Key
West Resort with DH, 15 month old DS, my brother, his wife, nephew, niece, DM, DD...we all loved OKW so much we stayed again all together the next year. I don't if it is the resort we like so much, or the fact that we were all able to stay together!

The first resort I stayed in was the Beach Club Villas a few weeks ago and they were amazing. We looked around a few other resorts whilst we were there but did not think any of them were as nice as the Beach Club. It certainly reached all my expectations and would not want to stay anywhere else. Epcot and MGM are my two favourite parks so location wise it was perfect and the amtosphere was great too. I will definately be going back there ASAP!!

My first resort was the Caribbean Beach. I don't think it'd been open very long when we stayed there and it seems like it was the first moderate? Anyway, I loved it. I think it set expectations as far as Disney atmosphere, it just isn't the same staying offsite - to me. But I enjoy all the resorts for what they are - have stayed at all levels and DVC. I just want to be at Disney!

Our first onsite stay was in the treehouse villa. Man that was something special ! A bit remote though. And no pool.

The next 6 trips we stayed in the trailers at Fort Wilderness. I remember overhearing some woman on the bus saying they had rented a trailer to see if they were suited for camping. Thought to myself " some camping experience ! the maid comes in daily and loads the dishwasher" LOL

Since then we have gone from ASM to POFQ, and then Boardwalk Inn. The next trip is split between AKL, DVC and Swan.
I see a trend here leaning towards the deluxes

We stayed at Buena Vista Palace in '98. We had a nice time and it was a great hotel but since then we have fallen in love with the Dolphin!

We were so impressed when one morning we got up and realized that overnight the gardeners had replaced all the outside flowers with poinsettias overnight (it was Thanksgiving!).
DXL definitely set a standard! Have never forgotten the "magical" feeling from that trip!
Love the AKL now, but would return to PO/Riverside in a heartbeat!

We stayed at the ASSports our first trip and I really did not have any real expectations however, we loved it and have been back 3 times-my kids can't get enough of it. I prefer CBR but until they are grown we will keep going back.

We stayed at CBR for our honeymoon in '91. The next year we tried PO (now POFQ). Loved it! in fact we stayed there for our next four visits. Then we had to try DXL after riding the pontoon boat over there. Loved that place just as much. Stayed there for a few visits and then tried AKL. We liked it but for our upcoming trip this month we have chosen to go back to POR (DXL). The landscaping and theming there meet and exceed my expectations. We love to walk around the resort and see the grounds, the river, critters, etc.

Port Orleans, French Quarter in 1997. In some ways it'll always be my favorite trip, since it was a Christmas present from my (now) husband the first year we were going together...but then again, our honeymoon room at at the GF...best view we'll ever have!

The Contemporary, Thanksgiving 1992.

Ruined me for staying offsite... but I've now stayed in all the Disney resorts except the Yacht Club, the Grand Floridian and Fort Wilderness, so I don't have any particular loyalty to the Contemporary.

The Contemporary back in 1976. I think the rate was all of $66 a night or something along those lines. Back then the choices were only the Contemporary or Poly. We stayed at the Contemporary twice before giving the Poly a try, and it immediately became our favorite! Haven't stayed at either of the two in over 2 decades because the current prices exceed our wallet, but the Poly has always held fond memories for me.
