Today was packed. Yesterday (Sunday) we rode everything we wanted 3-4 times and never waited more than 10 minutes or so. Not so lucky today.

That's good news for us going next week! Crazy all the crowd predictor calendars had the week of the 6th as the lower crowd week. Those things are becoming absolutely useless.

First, it's summer. That means crazy crowds. Second, the 60th AND Season of the Force is still going which means more crowds. Third, it's the last week of the SoCal pass so they might be hitting the parks for the last time until September.

For me, if it's June - August, expect heavy crowds.

We have been this week for 4 out of the last 6 years. We always went to the parks from Saturday to Wednesday. It is always the week with the last weekdays before the SoCal passes are blocked for the rest of the summer. For those 4 years, Saturday and Sunday were always fantastic because the passes were blocked. The crowds were low and the lines were short. Monday was a crowded mess all 4 years, and Tuesday was not that much better. We still had fun, but it definitely was way more crowded than Saturday and Sunday. Wednesday the crowds had died back down and it was better, but I am not sure that the passes were still open Wednesday and Thursday like they are this year. The last 2 years we have been in July (including anniversary week last year) and both years I was really worried that the crowds would be horrible, but both years the crowds on all 5 days of our trip were significantly less than the Mondays and Tuesdays of the June trips when the SoCal were getting ready to be blocked. Doesn't sound like anything has changed since we switched to July two years ago (which was related to DD's schedule, not the crowds).

If the crowd predictors claimed that Monday and Tuesday of this week were going to be low crowds, they are crazy. We have 4 years of consistent experience with the crowd levels on those specific days that says that prediction was nuts. In all our years of going to WDW and DLR, the only time we have been in a heavier crowded day than those 4 Mondays was when we went to WDW the week between Christmas and New Years (well technically until after New Years) 1999-2000.

I would go this week of the year again IF we got the Saturday and Sunday because they were fantastic all 4 times. If I knew I would only be going this Monday and Tuesday, then after 4 years of experience with it, I would not just do those 2 days- they were consistently packed and crazy.

Monday's have been some of the busiest for us as well. Tuesday-Thursday tend to be the very best times, especially Thursdays!

At DL you have to watch the AP black out dates. We experienced this on the other end when they opened back up in September. Dear g-d it went form being manageable crowded to insanely crowded. So glad the 1st day APs were back was our last day.

Monday was crazy busy! We headed over to DCA right away and while the lines were still long there seemed to be less congestion.

For me it always comes down to how Disney decides to run the day. When rides run at lower capacity, the waits can be longer than the busy days where they run at full capacity. I totally agree with this. If Disney thinks it will be busy things will end up better because they are running things at full capacity (both elevators of TOT running, both sides of Matterhorn loading, etc.) I know Disney thinks it will be crazy busy when the entrance of DL and Main Street is flooded with characters.

We usually go in early June - so have dealt with Grad Nights (never been a big deal for us) and we have been there right before other APs have been blocked. With both situations the crowds can sometimes be crazy, but that's why park hop A LOT and try and go for 4 or 5 days. But I get that's not possible for everyone. We're going the first week of August this year. I think I'll miss the June gloom and coolness (usually) of a CA June, but I'm curious if I'll see a big difference in crowds. (I am sure it will be crowded - I always assume that in summer!)
