What was Disney thinking??!?!?!?

All I can say is I can't wait for the future announcement of South Park Land coming to HS. Bring on the music!!!!

OK - I spit out my drink.

That's funny!

I shouldn't have to lead them away. It's Disney for crying out loud! There shouldn't be anything objectionable at Disney! They would stop someone at a gate for sporting a racey tshirt or a tattoo of a naked woman but a song like that is ok?
On what planet??

Well, I hate to be the one to break it to you but I've heard lots of bad language at Disney World. Lots. Yes, the total big bomb and lots more of the "seven words never to be used on TV". Unless you want to confront each and every person who drops "the bomb" at Disney World, your child will be exposed to a lot of things.

Saying nothing should be objectionable at Disney World is like being under a dome and living your life like in a Stephen King novel. And that doesn't work out very well........

I hope the music at this dance party is tasteful and pure.

And you had better keep the dancing pure too! There must be at least 12 inches between you and your partner at all times! You can only snap your fingers and skip.:cool1: No hip shaking!

Sorry, OP. The words to that song you find offensive can be interpreted many ways! They are only "dirty" or "bad" if that is the meaning you choose to put on them.

Actually, I've been known to do just that. I confront people all the time for cursing in front of children (not always mine).

I'm the person that will confront the jerk idling in front of Walmart with uncensored rap music blasting out of his open windows.

I'm also the person who spent about $20 in a juke box war with an idiot playing Metallica, slayer, and other inappropriate crap at a popular children's establishment after several other parents complained. I think I ticked the jerk off when I kept playing Taylor Swift.

So yeah, someone at Disney drops a bomb around mine or anyone else's kids and I will say something.

ETA: btw, Under the Dome is a great show. Not kid friendly but I'm not a kid. Haven't read the book though or seen last night's episode yet so no spoilers!

I was one of those kids that sang very inappropriate lyrics when I was small. The year was 1968, I was 6 and I sang the song with the nastiest title (look it up--I know I will get walloped by the mods if I typed it out).

I had no idea what all those words meant. I just liked the melody.

My mother finally hear me singing it one day and she simply told me that I could only sing that song alone in my room (it was her album so it wasn't like she didn't know what was on the album).:rolleyes1

it's obvious he wants to give a girl a pizza.. hence the pants ripping lyric.. i know after a big delicious pizza my pants may tend to rip..

I hope you don't let your kids watch Disney movies because there are many instances in the films where things are highly inappropriate.

Oh lordy... my father, a musician, was out on his front porch the other night playing guitar and singing a very, very hilariously raunchy song. He commented to me, "For certain venues, we've come up with a child-friendly version which we call 'The Irish Rover'." (Of course that's the original song, but he was pretending his x-rated edition was the "real" song!)

My stepmother kept saying, "Don't you dare play that out here!"

But he did anyway. :rotfl2:

He would have been highly entertained if you'd decided to confront him! I think you'd have made his entire evening.

I resent this! I intentionally began stirring at the mention of breastfeeding!

Wait, someone mentioned breastfeeding? Darn it, how'd I miss that!

 Um... what did it have to do with this topic?

As someone who grew up singing "Lets Talk About S*x" and "Baby Got Back" I really don't think that song is that bad. I agree that its a bit much, but out of all of the songs out there, that seems mild. I had no idea what any of it meant until I was older.

No, its definitely not a new concept. However, you have to admit that the envelope of innuendo has been pushed way beyond what it used to be. Besides, I think the further an "artist" pushes it, the less they have to rely on their talent, or lack of it in some cases. This particular song we are talking about has a great beat, and is very catchy. They didnt really need the trashy lyrics, but unfortunately that is what appeals to those buying the records. That is fine, people have the choice, but its getting to the point where turning on the local pop station (or apparently going to a WDW dance party) has become a cringe fest when I'm listening with my kids. That is a pretty sad commentary on our society IMO.
:thumbsup2 This is why we have switched to only listening to Christian channels and there are some Christian heavy rock bands so I don't feel I'm missing anything.

Now when I was growing up they used to have tapes(showing my age ) with Disney characters singing cleaned up versions of current songs.
I loved those tapes when I was a kid. Mickey and Goofy sure could sing.:rotfl2:

It is extremely egotistical to dismiss something as superficial and stupid just because it does not happen to matter to you. Is there something, anything that you would find offensive, enough that you would be willing to defend your right not to be subjected to it? Anything at all. If so, how angry would it make you if I said, you are being ridiculous? Stop making a big deal out of nothing....

I do not tell people what they can and cannot be offended by.

No, but you will tell Disney what you think they should play.

Personally I do not care what songs Disney plays. It will not make or break my vacation nor cause me to question it in any way.

I also , for the record , support Robin ( and Marshall Mathers , Chick Fil-a, gay rights, Mel Gibson etc). Freedom of Speech for everyone . I may not like what is said but I believe a person has the right to sing it .... And Disney to play it if they desire.

I am just waiting for the Walt would turn over in his Grave comments! But that is okay.. Those posters have the right to say that ( even if I think it is stupid! )
