What was added to online reservations yesterday?

Just curious if anything new has been added to on-line reservations as a result of the outage yesterday. Have they enhanced the on-line check-in feature with options for requests? I have reservations for this summer and was wondering if I should call MS with requests or will I be able to do it when I check in on-line.

Thus far, I have found nothing new, including that there is still nowhere to make room requests when doing on-line booking.

Sounds like it wasn't an upgrade, just a fix. :dance3: I've been told by DVD they were having computer problems. :surfweb: and several members here have said there have been issues with their points. :confused3

Well for me, they added the ability to make a reservation. :rolleyes1
Since online reservations were launched, I have not been able to book online. Everytime I would get to the point where I would select which contract to take the points from, I would get an error. I tried this morning and I no longer get the error and I can book online.

I had a problem wait listing one of my home resorts AKV . It would not allow me to wait list Jambo AKV Value studio as it said it was not one of my Home Resorts. I had to call MS and have them do it--they said there appears to be a problem with the system recognizing Jambo --it wants to recognize Kidani Villas only. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

The down time was related to Disney down time not something unique to DVC. DVC uses the Disney system as the core of their system so when Disney upgrades, DVC is upgraded too.

My understanding is that the upgrade was related to a new ADA requirement for Handicap room reservations.

I really think that unless you request a HA room, you should not be assigned one. This is particularly true if traveling with toddlers. Perhaps this upgrade will give you the option.

I had the same problem, but I would just list kidani as my home resort even though I wait listed jambo. It was some strange glitch, wouldn't work the first time then I would change and list my home resort to kidani (which it is) and it would work. Strange

Any one else seeing that the screen graphics for the pop down menues has gotten much slower. WDW's regular IT team must have done something to mess it up.

I just found out that the changes made to the software won't go on line until next week.

Yep, and my points are still not fixed. I had a room booked for one night and got my waitlist room. They took points out for the waitlist, but never put the points back from the first room (not sure why they just didn't transfer them). So they took points out for 2 rooms for the same night. Trying to fix little issues like this becomes complicated for MS for some reason. I know what my balance should be as I keep an ongoing chart of every transaction, plus I checked the activitiy transaction online and found the error righ away.

:thumbsup2 this is my understanding too. I am loving being able to see where the accessible rooms are available (and where they are not :sad2: ) it is great that we will be able to book online finally.

I don't think this will stop guests being allocated an accessible room if they don't want one, if they book the last available unit in a room category and the only unit left is an accessible one they will get it. It does give those who need the accessible units the option to see that one is available when they book. Before you had to either call and wait on the line to have availability confirmed with special needs or book online not knowing if there was an accessible unit and then call to see if what you had booked was available with the accessible option.

It levels the playing field in terms of booking at 11 months and 7 months where those booking online had a time advantage over those who had to call.

Precisely. I find incredibly helpful to search for rooms at 7 months and see what is available in HA rooms. It may make the Wait List usable to me at last.

On a side note, I think the upgrade has forced Disney to update their system for what is a HA room. I had book a HA studio with roll-in shower at BLT 11 months ago. A month before check-in (early February), DVC called me to check on the reservation. They discovered Special Needs booked the wrong kind of room for me (tub with rails) and had to bump me up to a one bedroom to get me a roll-in shower. I had no problems when I checked in. The room I wanted was the room I got.

What I'd like to know is where all the roll-in shower rooms are at my DVCs. BLT seems to have them in rooms xx12 and xx14. SSR has them in xx10, xx12, xx14 and xx25. BWV has a studio and one bedroom Boardwalk View over the Screen Door. BCV has them near the elevator. I haven't stayed at OKW, AKV or VWL yet.

Adding the HA info to online booking was a result of a March 15th required ADA change to the number of rooms available for the hearing impaired.
