What valuables have you accidentally thrown away?

My dang digital camera apparently got mixed in with some stuff that got thrown out. That was always a fear of mine since it was so small.

What have you pitched?

I threw away Knick championship tickets many moons ago. Luckily, my BIL asked for his ticket the day before the garbage pickup. We had to root through bags of garbage, but we found it.

I threw away a gift certificate for a few hundred $$ a few years ago... luckily my father still had the garbage in the back of his truck and rummaged through to find it for me

A $1500 diamond tennis bracelet that my husband gave me for our 15th Wedding Anniversary.

Thanks for reminding me. :scared:

I accidentally washed (and shredded) $500 in gift certificates back when $500 meant the world to us.

I think the tears I cried that day were all the ones I'd been holding back for so long, but I thought they'd never stop.

There is now the matter of 4 missing dessert forks in my home that is irritating me.

My daughter's pearl from the Pick a Pearl in Japan at Epcot. (Biggest one she ever picked too) I felt so bad, I would have rather thrown away my own valuable.

my passport. :headache:

I was cleaning out my desk and my files, and near as I can figure I put it in the "toss" pile instead of the "keep" file, because after that day I never saw it again. And it had all my stamps from my trip to China, too!

Luckily no one got a hold of it, this was years ago and something would have shown up on my credit report by now if someone stole my identity. It's likely at the bottom of a landfill somewhere!

My step-daughter threw away Rolling Stones tickets.

A few weeks ago, I picked up a $50 co-pay prescription then came home and threw it away with the bag. Fortunately, I realized it a couple of hours later and was able to retrieve it.

passport (Somehow I lost it somewhere in our basement) and I also threw out my ID...:headache:

Money was the only thing I can think of off hand that I've thrown away. It was in an envelope, and I tossed it with a bunch of junk mail.

But we're in the midst of packing for a move, so I am REALLY REALLY scared of what I may find I've thrown out once we get to the new house. I've really become a tossing fool! When I started packing, I was going through things in detail to try to avoid throwing away or losing something important. I've now gotten to the point where I take a quick glance at the contents of a drawer, then just dump it in the trash....:lmao: I really am afraid of what might be missing when we start unpacking...

Apparently I tossed my high school class ring about five years after graduation. I recall setting it down before going to bed one night, but the next morning I could not for the life of me remember where I had put it. That was about 10 moves ago, so I can only assume that the ring is lost to the ages.

Funny thing. My GF in high school also lost the same ring. Apparently her baby sister threw it in a waste basket and it wasn't until some time later (after her family had burned the paper trash) that my ring turned up in a pile of ashes.

I suppose that ring was destined to be lost.

A Target gift card is the most recent.

The worst one was done while I was still in high scholl and threw away a white gold ring (the stone had fallen out) my mother had passed down to me. It was a gorgeous filagree and I'm still a little sad about that one. I had wrapped it in an empty wrapper in my purse for safekeeping, then tossed the "trash" about a week later.

two airline tickets from chicago to orlando!!

We called three days before the trip and the lady said "no problem" and gave us a number to give to the people at the ticket counter.
Well the people at the ticket counter said "no, you had paper tickets. They are like cash."
So one hour into our trip we have to shell out another $500 for new tickets. we are still waiting for the refund from the lost tickets. If nobody used them we are supposed to get it in 60 days to 9 years.

Mikeeee

Some items I had already listed on ebay and the auctions had ended WITH winning bids! Eeek!
What a nightmare, I was going through stuff to get rid of and stuff to auction and I obviously put one of the boxes full of auction items in the trash with a box of 'get rid of' stuff.
Actually I believe my dh was the one that carried the boxes out but I was telling him which ones to get. Either I pointed to the wrong one or he misunderstood which ones I was pointing to.

A pair of diamond earrings, and didn't realise it until after the trash man had come. They're sparkling on the bottom of an incinerator somewhere.

Does my retainer that I threw away with my lunch in Jr High count? I actually got it back (and yes, my mom boiled it) later that day after a very half-hearted search in the trash.:scared: The second time I threw it away I wasn't so good. I told mey mom I looked, but I didn't really:rolleyes1 . I got lucky and the ortho told me I didn't need the retainer anymore, though.

My DD is getting her braces off next week and will get her retainer, too. I told her not to do what I did. Now she's threatening to tell my mom I lied about looking:rolleyes: .

I am the same way when I get "Throw away fever". It doesn't matter what it is, three days after it's gone my husband will be looking for it!!

not valuable in the way of money, but I once threw away 6 rolls of undeveloped film from a class trip. I also threw away all my pictures from a disney trip with my friends :sad1:
