What "unusual" things do you pack for a trip?

I normally forget to pack these "odd" items, but I actually remembered for this trip! I thought I would start a thread to see what items do you now pack that you didn't bring pre-DVC.

My "odd" items:
1. coffee pre-filled filter packs
2. Tide tablets for wash
3. zip-lock bag with a few dryer sheets
4. wine cork screw (our first trip was missing this in the kitchen, so now it is part of the luggage)

The one less thing: CLOTHES! With the wonderful access to laundry, we only pack for 2-3 days no matter how long we are going. Makes things so much easier. :sunny:

Enjoy!

WIth the exception of your #4, I bring a electric griddle (large enough to cook breakfast for 8, & a collapsable cooler to drink drinks to the pool area.

But I don't consider tham to be all that odd as I have read some others do the same.

A Pur water pitcher. That Orlando water isn't the best! Also, I pack a large mug for DH's coffee because the cups at VWL are just too small.

I have a plastic shoe box that is filled with " everything & everything" as my DH would say. I save larger prescription bottles for things like extra dw detergent. In small zip lock bags (smaller than snack) I put spices like italian seasonings or cinnamon for freanch toast.

Can you still find detergent tablets? I have a few left, but I look in almost every store I go in and don't find them anywhere.

I'm pretty sure I got Purex tablets at our local grocery store.

Along with laundry tablets, I bring:
-- our king-size fitted sheet
-- coffee filters
-- Starbucks ground coffee (last year when we drove, we brought beans and our grinder)
-- twin air mattress and pump (or kids kick each other at night)
-- white noise machine (have never been bothered by hallway noise)
-- "color-catcher" sheets for laundry
-- depending on time of year, I may bring umbrellas

And so I don't forget any of these things, I have packing lists and grocery shopping lists in Word.

Well, I once packed a Disney itinerary that I tried to break down into 20 minute increments. In retrospect, I'd have to say that was a bit unusual. I still get hazed by my wife and friends for that one. My wife even decided to put the doggone thing in one of her vacation scrapbooks.

A motor boat mixer, for the morning protien shake, easier to clean than the blender.

Pur water filter. The kind that attaches to the tap.

Blue Ice for the cooler.

When we move closer I am sure we will bring lots of other stuff, I like the griddle idea.

Umbrellas are a must anytime we go.

I forgot, we have these really cool water bottles that are insulated, and freezable. We freeze overnight nad top off in the AM and have cold water all day as the ice slowly melts. I think the brand is Polar Bottle.

you can get the tablets at Walmart stores around here.

I bring - bath oil - candles and matches.

I think this time I will also bring a CD player to help me relax.

I did bring a waffle iron - I think I will again.

grape juice - I like it with vodka - and I always forget to buy some at the stores - so I try to remember to bring it.

We also pack our ponchos - Those just stay in the overnight bag.

Hubby once thought that DVC should set up an area with lockers that could be rented. That way we could each have a little lockable area that we could leave items in for the next trip. Although with 80,000 members now, that would equate to alot of lockers!

I have a small storage box with spices and seasonings - it's the WDW box! Also keep coffee filters in there.

We keep our folded ponchos stored right in a flat zipper pocket of our suitcase, since we only ever use them at WDW, anyway!

I have a Passporter that stores all the APs, PS ressie info, DVC confirmations, Disney Visa Reward $$ card, Q&C vouchers, and any other papers pertinent to upcoming trips.

Come to think of it, it is only since DVC that I have started these ongoing storage techniques, since we know we will be going back again and again!

Also, bubble bath for in the jacuzzi - they don't sell it anywhere at WDW that I could find!

I alaways wind up with a bag of incidentals for the kids... Flashlights, light necklaces, rings things like that. Some assorted Disney Junk... The ided is to not rebuy everything but we always seem to anyway.

I also bring and entire bag of medications having been stuck once and at the Mercy of Drugstore delivery. I but everything I can think of and pack it in a ziploc just in case!

air mattress and pump. (sheets for that.) small waterless vaporizer, sound machine, mini door alarms, bubble bath, etc.. etc... I keep an entire duffle bag filled just with vacation stuff.

We try to pack aromatic bath salts instead of bubble bath, which can run amok in the hot tub with hilarious but rather damp results.

Our Target still carries clothes detergent tablets, dishwasher detergent tablets and color-catcher sheets as well as the usual suspects. The less powder the better.

If we ever drive, we'll bring a crock pot for all-day stew or brisket.

Microwave stack cooker
Baggies with spices and with cleaning items packed and in separate large zipper bags.
Have lugged the Foreman grill when staying in a studio
When driving I only stop for perishables--everything else is already in a large tote.

Ever since our cruise, I take suction cup hooks which I put in the shower - then the wet bathing suits can hang from there instead of all over the jacuzzi or balcony, etc. I even hung them in the shower at home for the summer!

One thing that I always take is my stovetop griddle pan. I use it more than you'd think! Plus, it is slim and it packs nicely in those thin, big pockets on the outside of the suitcase. People laugh at me when they see how many drugs I bring with me. Everything up to Vicodin. You never know when DH will hurt his back or I get a migraine that jsut won't go away. Plus, DD is asthmatic so I need to bring a variety of things for that. I pretty much pack a portable pharmacy!!

small waterless vaporizer,

Do you like the waterless vaporizer? Does it work well? My dh has to travel to Vegas a few times a year for work and it is so dry there he can't stand it. He always has problems there. Thanks.

Lisa

I bought a bunch of these on ebay a while
back and I always take some of them with
us. We also have a coulple of the battery
powered spinners that we got from TDS.
This way the kids don't worry us to by things
for the night time parades.

Lisa... The waterless vaporizer is good.. I wouldn't use it if someone is sick. ( In other words I would rely on the larger vaporizer) But It worked out well for us. It is a mini Vicks and you buy the menthol scent disks one per night. It helped my boys alot with thier colds last December. I purchased it at Walmart.

I always bring votive holders and tealights to place around my home away from home, I love candles. Portable cd player with lots of discs, portable dvd player and movies (use it in the car on the way down and great for a rainy day) I pack a tucker tote with juice boxes, water bottles, wine & opener, bottle of rum with small cans of pineapple juice, snacks, girl scout cookies (we get ours in March and always buy extra for our April Disney trip) air mattress and pump, bath salts, laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent, my IKEA tea light lanterns that can go out on the balcony/patio. I could go on and on!!!
