What type of tea

I am hoping someone can help with this .

I am a tea drinker as is DH. I was looking on a few grocery websites to see what types of tea bags I could order (so we can have a cup of tea before we leave our hotel room, etc) and can't seem to find any brands we recognize (such as Tetley or Red Rose). I did see Lipton (which we've used) and I only could see what looked like Iced Tea bags, also Twinings and I didn't see orange pekoe.

So, all that to ask, are there any tea drinkers here that have found a brand they have used that is similar to orange pekoe that you could suggest? I could take tea bags in a zip lock bag in a suitcase, but I am not sure if that may not be allowed with customs.

Also (sorry for all the questions), are there by chance kettles in the value resorts? Or, are they just coffee makers? Do any of them have microwaves (which I could use to boil water if needed).

Which resort are you staying at? POP and All-Star Movies have coffee maker's, All-Star Music is being renovated to match but not all done yet. All-Start Sports isn't started yet so no coffee maker in the room, I don't think AoA does either unless you are in a suite. I remember seeing tea for the coffee maker at ASMovies and POP when I stayed there, I'm sure it was black tea, might have been green as well. As for American brands, I'd probably go with Lipton. I'd look for "black tea". Twinnings is usually good as well. You might like English Breakfast, though it's not exactly like orange pekoe.

The value resorts should have hot water and microwaves in the food courts, I don't know if you can get a microwave in your room, I've never seen one and haven't tried. Also, not sure if you are allowed to take tea across the border or not.

That's allowable. We occasionally take k-cups for the coffee makers and we just declare food when crossing the border and tell them it's coffee.

Garden Grocer has Twinings and Bigelow. I like both of those.

Salada tea bags have been my favorite for years. It’s orange orange pekoe, tastes so good!

Thanks for the pictures! That is perfect (at least I have an idea now). I was looking online and it looks like the brands I'm used to aren't the same. I spent some time looking online at different stores and it looks like I'll have to get used to a different brand.

I like both orange pekoe and English Breakfast tea. very similar. I actually took my Twinings English breakfast tea in my suitcase before I realized that's what the had at the resorts. I take an old refillable mug with me just for the tea, while DH buys a new one for his pop. If you're worried you wont like just bring some tea bags from home in a ziplock baggie.

It’s usually black tea in the grocery stores & I don’t like English breakfast. After a few trips of withdrawal, I take my tetley in a baggie.

Anyone else old enough to remember the Red Rose “only in Canada” commercials?

I once took a solo trip to WDW just so I could go to the England pavilion and get some Twinings tea. It is their iced tea and I could not find it anywhere close so...…..
It was a pleasant week and I brought home 10 boxes.

Try Rooibos.
Tasty, won't stain your teeth, and usually easy to find next to the other teas.

I always bring tea bags as I feel there is a noticeable difference in our tea and theirs. My first trip was diet coke in the morning because I could not stand the lipton tea they offered. And not a huge fan of English breakfast.

Just a note about those in-room coffee makers- any water that comes out of them tastes like coffee. I only drink tea and I have a hard time making a cup from those things because all I can taste is the leftover coffee grounds. This is experience from multiple stays at POP. I purchased a small electric travel kettle that I bring and I find that it's easiest to bring my own tea as well, although I do enjoy the Twinings brand that they supply.

On a side note, they make some Alice in Wonderland teas and sell them around the parks and I like those. The Mad Tea Party blend is nice and mild and I always bring a box or two home with me.

Another tea drinker here. As someone else said, the water that comes through the coffee makers will taste nasty. I have managed to make it less nasty by running it several times with just water, but still, you will notice some difference.

AOA suites do have a microwave, but the LM rooms do not, nor do the other rooms that are not suites. You can get hot water and tea in the food courts, and it's decent tea, Twinings.

If you choose to order from a grocery service do NOT order Lipton's. It's harsh and bitter -- terribly tannic. Twinings makes an excellent Orange Pekoe but it's hard to find. My second choice for orange pekoe fans would be Twining's Darjeeling, as it's similarly smooth. Tetley is another decent American brand. But you can absolutely bring tea bags from home in a little ziplcock, no worries. I travel all over the world with my own stash of tea in my purse, because you never know what will be available and you don't want to see me uncaffeinated!

Might they have it in the Twinings store in the UK Pavilion in Epcot? They have a lot of different inventory there. I'm not a big fan of Twinings, although there's some that I like, but since I can get pretty much all of it in my local stores I haven't looked too closely there to determine if they have it there.

Count me in as another one who ALWAYS travels with my own tea, no matter where I go!

It used to be Tetley Bold in a baggie in my checked luggage but now I buy loose leaf orange pekoe from Davids Tea. I buy it right at Pearson before I leave so I have a receipt because to me the loose leaf looks like it could be rolled and smoked!

I also always bring my mini electric kettle. You can buy one fairly inexpensively at WalMart or CanTire, like under $15 including tax. It paid for itself during the first trip and without water in it they are light weight

Thank you everyone! So, it looks like it is the safest to bring my own tea bags from home (i wasn't sure if I would be allowed to bring them in a bag). Both DH and I prefer orange pekoe and English Breakfast, even though close in flavour, my hubby would be having huge withdrawl without our normal brand. We've tried other brands and other flavours and always end up with wanting our fav, which is orange pekoe. It would be a LOOONNGG trip if hubby and I couldn't have our favourite brand of tea!

As for the coffee makers in the rooms, yes, I was worried about how you can taste the coffee flavour all the time. But, it helps to know that there is a microwave in the food court that can be used instead of the coffee makers.

Just as an FYI... Do they have sugar and milk available? Or, is that something that we would have to purchase and keep in our room/fridge? Also, what about the hours, is the microwave available only during certain times during the day (as in, is it locked at night type of thing).

I would if we end up driving, but most likely we'd be flying. As small as you can get some kettles now, I'm not sure I'd want to give up suitcase space with a kettle. Especially when so many airlines charge for each and every piece of luggage. But, that's a good tip if we do end up driving. Thanks .
