Whats best to wear for everyday workouts and for the Minnie 15K and 1/2 marathon?

I've seen cotton, spandex, dri fit, and more.

Nike, Adidas, Columbia Sportswear.....

I really want shorts with pockets.

Here is a good link to a workout clothes and shoes store. We get a WISH discount there also. Go to discounts and type in the code WISHD then hit enter, gives you 15% off everything but a couple of brands.

Avoid cotton in your workout clothes, even socks. If you are a walker then pockets in your shorts or jacket that don't zip closed will catch your hands when you are going fast.

I think Dave was trying to steer you to runningwarehouse.com, (I do not know how to enter the link).

Things to look for:

Wicking material (usually polyester, but no always)

Uaually, it's something like moisute wick or dry fit. Cool Max is a big one too.

Suzanne, first and foremost, NO COTTON, under any circumstances. I wear almost exclusively New Balance clothes because I have an outlet near me where I can get their clothing pretty reasonable. They also have a HUGE sale in August where I stock up on anything I need. I only wish I could wear their shoes. The NB fabric is called lightening dry and it wicks away which is what you want to look for. I love the new running skirts but some women have had issues with the compression shorts not staying in place.

On race day in 60 degrees and up, I wear a SS tech shirt or singlet and a running skirt. Performance socks are a must too. Everything has to move sweat away from you. Over a 5K I wear the Injinji tetrasok which I love more than my running skirts.

For 40-60 degrees, I make the call on the bottom layer but make the switch to light tights for the cooler temps. LS tech shirt on top maybe with a jacket or vest depending on the wind conditions.

For 30 degreesish, which I would hope you never have to deal with (but recalling tales of WDW 2006) I wear heavy tech tights, LS tech shirt and a fleece vest on top, hat and running gloves. Add a jacket and wind pants for below 30 degrees.

Good luck in your search for clothes. It takes awhile to find comfortable wear that fits you perfectly. The best idea is to go to a local running store, try on and then buy from the runningwarehouse site with the discount!!!

I have bought almost all of my running clothes at Marshalls and TJ Maxx. I've gotten Nike running tights and capris, New Balance shorts, Under Armour t-shirts and bra tops...nothing for over $20. Obviously it's totally hit or miss, but I've built up quite the running wardrobe by shopping there!

I really like Under Armour stuff but I'll admit that I haven't had a chance to try much else so far. My dad gave me a couple of shirts so I've mostly been buying things from them. I'm waiting until I lose a little more weight (fingers crossed) until I buy more running stuff.

I buy most of my tops and bottoms at Target (love the C9 by Champion stuff they sell). They refresh their lines there pretty often so if you don't see anything you like, just check back later. I buy socks at a running store because the higher end brands come in different sizes and I wear a size 9.5 shoe. Title 9 Sports has a great selection of running bras.

Like everyone said, dri-fit, wicking fabrics are a must.

I love shopping at Marshalls, and will definitely start looking for running clothes there.

I think most of mine is the C9 brand from Target. It is cheaper and seems to do just as well as the brand name stuff.

I've only just started running really, but have found nike dri fit t-shirts really comfy ( i like relaxed fit not tight- not that much of a runner yet!!!). I recently bought some more running shorts by adidas- http://www.jjbsports.com/womens-running-clothing/adidas-rsp-baggy-short/prod_134290.aspx
it's a UK link but figured you probably have the same or similar stuff over there, just cheaper tut. These feature a little pocket at the back of the shorts, big enough to hold a key or cards.
I personally am dreading the minnie heat and humidity and am not really sure how i can prepare for that!
Good luck finding stuff that works for you.

Anyone else have trouble with finding pants/tights in petites? I'm fine with shirts but have short legs and seems like everything is made for someone 3" taller than me. I've managed to find a couple but it is so hit or miss.

Dummy forgot the link to the runningwarehouse didn't he. Well you see it wasn't my fault. When those aliens abducted me and swapped by brain with a wildebeast....

Am I the only one that spends more on exercise clothes than on work clothes? I have one pair of work shoes and a closet full of walkers.

I shop at Dillards when they have the year end clearance sales, 75% off and then they run 40% off of that. I have a ton of stuff I bought that way. I just got Erica and I winter weight track suits with zip out sleeves for $21 each. I bought speedo (boxer style) swim suits last fall for $2 each.

Dave, I have seen the wildebeast migration and you should not be so hard on your self:lmao: :lmao:

I hear ya'. At 5'3" I'm on the edge of petites, but with short legs, I have trouble too. At least with the tights, I can bunch up the extra fabric around the ankles. Capris seem to be the best.
Here's another vote for Marshall's and they get new stock in every Tuesday. Last week they had New Balance tempo shorts for $12. Happy shopping!

I had to laugh when I read this. I'm the opposite, my upper torso is short and regular tops have about 3 inches too much material (length) between my shoulders and my waist. It is difficult finding workout clothes to fit.

I'm 4'11" and found the Brooks Motion Crop pants fit me like regular pants. I LOVE them! I feel so lucky to have discovered them. I now have two pairs...

I am off to Target today to check out their selection. At Wal Mart yesterday, I was able to find the dri socks, whatever they are called. I am going to start wearing them this week.
