What Toy was a Bust with the kids?

Almost all gifts were a bust for my 12 month old! He occasionally plays with a phone he got, but that is it. He mostly wants to play with the paper, the boxes, and the gifts that his older broth/sister got- all off limits! THere are still 3 gifts under the tree he has yet to unwrap and everytime I try to show him, he could care less! (They are going back:upsidedow )

Crayola glow station was a big disappointment for my kids too!

I bought this for my son but read the reviews when I got home and exchanged it for something else. Sounds like I did the right thing! My niece wanted it as well, and I told her parents about the reviews and she didnt' get it either.

Disney Wii Sing it... Me and Dh have played with it more than the kids..

For us, the glow station was a bust at first, but once we figured out how to use it, my dd will play with it for quite a while. In our case, it took some time for her to figure it out.

Nerf Vulcan gun. These were a piece of junk and both went back the next day. My oldest son's would not even turn on (new batteries) my youngest's would turn on but it jammed so bad he could not even play with it. I was really disappointed in these - had even ran all over town finding the extra packs of darts that went with it. The boys took it in stride. Told the youngest Santa left the gift receipt and he was happy with his $40 cash.

We have 2 of these--1 DS opened his right away and plays with it. The other DS hasn't opened his yet but plays with the other one every chance he gets.

Unfortunately we have quite a few gifts still unopened. Not sure if they're duds or just overwhelmed still.

The list includes

AG Mia (been sitting in my closet since April when she asked for it for birthday but got bike instead) I had a feeling this would not be a hit.
AG scooter
Night Vision Goggles
Star Wars Lego set
Halo 3 laser tag gun set
Tini Puppini (just had to have it)

Ipods were a huge hit! Laser tag a huge hit! Bratz a huge hit!

WOW that's a first.....I don't know anyone who has one who's kids and adults don't love it. We got one last year and our family plays it all of the time.

I'm in shock!!! :scared1: :scared1: Seriously - they didn't like their Wii??? What's wrong with these kids??? Sorry, didn't want that to come across as mean but I have NEVER met someone who didn't like theirs. We love ours and played the one we got my family (parents and siblings) a lot over Christmas at their house. Wow...

BTW, no duds here but I must say that DH is probably so overwhelmed with my parents spoiling that he doesn't know what to do with all of his loot.

I too am shocked!

My DD14 & DS10 love our Wii. We've got over 2 dozen games for it. Maybe those kids just didn't have the right games for them. They should check-out their local Gamestop....they'll find some games they love.

We don't love our Wii, but it wasn't a bust from this year, since we've had it awhile. There are just much better games for the Xbox360, which we also have, then there are for the Wii, so 90% of our gaming is done on the Xbox360 not the Wii. That being said there are still some good games for it, just not as many as either DH or I would like and the motion movement makes it tough to play with a toddler who likes to "help".

As for busts, there aren't really any for DS this year, which is nice. DH on the other hand got a Dart Board from his parents and both he and I are clueless why they thought this was a good idea when they know we have a toddler and an infant on the way.

Biscuit wasn't a big hit. My sons godmother bought it for him BUT he has only played with it once and said (he is 4 years old) that he would rather play with his REAL dog since he can do more tricks and he walks, LOL.
I feel like returning it, but I feel bad about hurting his aunties feelings if she comes and Biscuit is not here.

I'm not usre it counts as a bust for us or not. DD(5) was DYING for a real American Girl doll. She talked about it so much she drove everyone nuts. She has a lot of other generic dolls that aren't treated gently (well, they're played with by a 5 year old!) so we spent the month of December replying to every plea for an AG doll with the, "If Santa brings you one you'll have to take REALLY good care of her" spheal... sooo... She now that Mia has arrived, she takes a lot of naps and has had her clothes changed only once. The few extra AG outfits we bought are being worn by the rattty old dolls (who have been resurected with a new life) and Mia is usually sleeping in her bed or just "standing". So maybe it's not a bust, but I think all our preaching about how to care for an AG doll went too far!!!!!

I have to confess...I love the AG Dolls! I wish my DD loved them as much as me. She has Bitty, the Twins, JLY, Nicki, Julie and now Mia.

My niece loves them, plays with them, etc. Mine (or my DDs) just sit on a shelf. Every once in a while she'll let me play with them, change their clothes, do their hair. I just want her to let me take Mia out of the box already!

She did take Bitty and the Twins on our WDW/Cruise trip last year. But they never left the room!

I feel the same way! DD received her first AG for Christmas from Santa. I have to ask her if Kit wants to come to the store with us or to lunch with us. I hate that I have to remind her to play with her, but I'm trying to do it in a non-nagging way. ;)

For my youngest whom is complete in love with Elmo. (one of his first words, emo...) isnt amused by the 60 buck Elmo Live. My 6yr old is amused by the jokes. The youngest loves the elmo restraurant. The bust for my older boy was the air hogs helicopter. Oh he loves it...but it broke on first use!

Our big bust was the Playskool Helmet Heroes Racer helmet. The helmet part is really heavy and there's really no "game" to it. You just press random buttons and hear random phrases and engine noises...boring!! I can't get my DS 2 to even try it on.

It does have a built in microphone you can use to hear your voice (while your pressing the button) My DS 10 thought that part was cool. Honestly, I would return it, but it was one of those super wired up packages and getting it out of the packaging completely destroyed the box. I think the toy maker did that on purpose so we, parents, couldn't get our money back after finding out it was such a lame product!

Luckily, he loves his Little Tikes Workshop and it is a very nicely constructed toy. That was his big gift from Santa.

Hehe- we went to DisneyLand for our kids' Christmas present- no bust there! Well, the three year old got Biscuit and I was pleasantly shocked- he LOOOOVES him! :) Ah, next year- there will be plenty of busts- there usually is!

That's what I was afraid of! I guess we'll be decorating the closet doors with them.

One of the teachers got the I-Spy tube thing from one of her students. It kept the teachers entertained for a long time! Maybe it's our longer attention span & old eyes that can't see anything though. ;)

I gave one of those to my son & his family. I don't know if they've tried it yet :confused3

This was the dud toy for us too. It seems that you have gotten it to work better than us though.

I think the biggest disappointment was the Princess Liana (Barbie) doll from Barbie and the Diamond Castle. The one that has a button on her hand and sings with the Princess Alexa doll. Liana's dress is supposed to flip automatically with a crank on her back. The only thing is that the dress hangs from her waist in three pieces (four including the back piece). DD hates that the skirt isn't one solid piece. Plus the skirt doesn't even lie flat like it's supposed to. I wouldn't have bought the doll if I'd known her skirt was in pieces like that, but when it's packaged up you can't tell.
