... at the resorts?

My mom and I are flying down to WDW Sunday :yay: and with the new carry-on restrictions, we have to keep most of our toiletries in our checked baggage. Now we are using ME, so we will not have our bags right away. We are the type of people who must shower after travelling, it just refreshes us. When we got to POFQ, we were going to shower, then head to Epcot. Now we probably won't have our toiletries. We are OK w/ using the shampoo and soap Disney provides, but we will need deodorant. Does anyone know if they sell this? We know they sell sunscreen (thank goodness), another neccessity for us. Thanks for your help :)

Yes. I believe all General-type stores carry deoderant. Why don't you buy the stick or roll-on type deoderant and carry that on? Is that banned, too? We don't fly, so I have no idea what all is banned--I know liquid stuff is but stick deoderant? I use Dove women's anti-perspirant/deoderant and it works all day and doesn't turn your clothing white! Have a great time and don't worry, you should be able to stock up on all your necessities!

all of those items are available at the resort gift shops...

what i've read a lot of people that are taking DME are planning to do is packing their toiletries in a small bag, check it but do not tag it with a DME tag, and when one person goes to the DME counter to check in, etc. the other goes to the baggage carousel to grab just that bag... that way you have it with you but you don't need to haul all your luggage...

ENJOY :flower:

What a great idea! Thanks so much, I think we'll be doing that :)

I am not sure if it is banned or not. However, my friend flew yesterday and her secret stick deodorant was taken away. Better be safe than sorry!

No kidding! You do not want to be without your deoderant in this heat--believe me there will be plenty of other people who don't wear it to remind you of how important it truly is!

The above idea about checking a small bag but not tagging for DME is brilliant!

thanks! but i cannot claim the idea as my own... i read it on the Transportation boards! :)

For today, better safe than sorry, so we all are adjusting... and its the right thing to do - (remember banning everything like nail clippers!)

So yes, all sticks, gels, liquids etc... its more stuff for women than men - you know our night creams, day creams, perfumes, makeup etc...

Now, you can buy the handiwipes in the sealed container... and there is a toothpaste that is more of a toothwipe in a sealed container... on a cloth.. there is a deodarant in this same type sealed packet - BUT there is a report they banned taking ketchup on a flight!! Again, better to be safe than sorry!! The pilots couldnt bring on toothpaste!

You can buy makeup that is not liquid - Bare Minerals!!

and there is gardengrocer.com!!

Love the tip to have one bag that has essential liquids!!

I've read that people have had their deoderants confiscated. Lipstick, compacts and mascara had to be tossed also.
I went through my cabinets and found mascara, lipstick and a compact that are pretty much all used up. I'm putting those in my purse. If I have to toss them it isn't any big loss.

why not just put them in your checked luggage? it would save time and energy at the security checkpoints...

Because I've heard conflicting reports of what is allowed. For a six hour flight I would like the convenience of having them. If they aren't allowed, I'll toss them.

Not much or not the quality most want.

They will have a small bottle of Johnsons' Baby Shampoo or Head n' Shoulders. If you want a high end brand I suggest putting it in ziplocs and storing it in your check in baggage.

If you have transportation, you could always buy it at a convenience store or market just before arrival.

I was watching the news yesterday regarding all this stuff and saw them throw out a stick of secret that was a solid. I hate what this is coming to. But better safe than sorry. Newspaper said the little stores inside the airport were hurting due to this but I would think that since people couldn't take it on the plane with them, they would be at the stores buying it when they got off the plane.

Here in the uk we are not allowed to carry on any liquids, gels, make-up or similar. We are having to put ALL items into a clear plastic bag. Those of us flying to the US can take glasses (no case), wallet, tickets and house keys. People flying not to the US can buy books and magazines in the departure lounge. I would think that any type of stick deodorant would not be allowed. Apparently the liquid chemicals that were intended for use can be dried out into a solid form and still be explosive - this is the reason for the ban on such items.
