We are going to the Luau at the Poly on Sat. What would be appropriate for myself and my DH to wear? Thanks!

Hawaiian shirts of course. Bonus if they're Mickey Hawaiian.

But feel free to dress anyway you want. There really isn't a dress code but people do tend to dress a bit better then average park attendees.

I agree with Bill...I saw a lot of Hawaiian wear and dressier outfits on some of the folks going in to the Luau last week.

I have always worn a cute sundress,a nice one. Polos or Hawaiian shirts are what I mostly see on the guys.

This question makes me smile. My DF and I had a terrible fight about me wearing a dress to the Poly Luau back in 1977. I was 14 and thought I was too old to be spanked. Apparently not! I wore a sundress and was really happy that I did. Most everyone was dressed up. Now I think most people are a bit more casual though.

Being a male I wore a hawian shirt with dress shorts. Wife wore a sun dress as well as the three kids.
But I wanted to mention they take a photo out in front while you are walking into the theater area. They charge you an arm and a leg for the photo and I guess a lot of people pass them up, but ours was a great family photo and we bought it. So dressing up for that may be your choice. They bring the photos around to the tables after dinner during the show.

we went in april and just a word of advise, don't arrive too early, after you get your lei at the start, they lead you to a waiting area, and it gets very hot very fast, with few places to sit.

we wore hawaiin garb of course!!! i bought hubby a hawaiian shirt, much to his dismay....i got a flowy sundress from old navy that had flowers all over it....ds had a hawaian shirt from the childrens place that i got for like 2 bucks at an outlet, and dd a set from costco that had a basic tank and big outlines of flowers on the skirt. she loved it to pieces. i was totally going for that cheesy look. but we didn't look half bad! lol we were going to go in feb, but i figured it would be too cold....enjoy!

we are going the day after thanksgiving and I got us matching hawaiin shirts we will wear with shorts. I've also in the past gotten the matching mickey hawaiin dress/shirt for dh and I to wear.

I thought it was awesome when we went in 2008 and a large number of people were wearing Hawaiian shirts and dresses.

(They do sell some cute stuff at Boutiki in the Poly!)

Thank you all for your responses. I have a few tropical dresses but I worry that I won't be warm enough. Can you tell that I am a Floridian? People from up north wouldn't think twice about wearing shorts. Thank you for your tips/advice.

We are also going on the Wed after Thanksgiving, my very first Disney trip. I was wondering how cold is it, it is completely outside with no heating? I can obviously figure out the weather that day/evening, but I dont understand the venue, will there be heated areas?

This is really tough to predict. We were at WDW in December and the temps hit over 80 and was sunny every day. The next year we went the week of Thanksgiving. It was a bit rainy and the temps never hit over 65.

Sorry, I can't answer your question about the heating as we went in the summer... It is quite open, tho. There is a roof over the tables where you sit to eat, etc. Not sure how it could be heated effectively, as the front, back, and sides are open, if I remember correctly.
Hope someone else jumps in here with a definitive answer for you.

They have some big radiant heaters in the ceiling. I can't say how effective they are but I bet they can cut the cold a bit.
