DH and I have a wedding to go to. I am normally very good at picking out proper attire, but this has me baffled. It is an outdoor wedding, on the beach at the begining of August (FL), and to top it off in the middle of the afternoon!
What should I wear? I have never been to a beach wedding and I have no idea what is appropriate. I don't know the bride, so I can't ask her....
Please help me out! :goodvibes
Thanks for any advice!

I would say a sundress or casual skirt and top for you, khakis and a polo shirt or casual button-down shirt for your DH.

I think a pretty sundress would be appropiate.

I agree, sundress and flat sandals for you, chino's and a camp/polo type shirt for DH.

I almost had a beach wedding but complications came up but I was telling everyone to wear sundresses or khakis. Also don't wear heels as you will sink in the sand!! This will be a causual event I guarantee!

A nice sundress and a pair of flats should be just fine. I went to a formal outdoors wedding before in a sundress and had many compliments.

As other have suggested....

A flirty sundress, with cute sandals, and dressier jewery. :thumbsup2

Sounds like fun!! :thumbsup2 :sunny:

A cute sundress would be perfect. I've been to a few beach weddings and I always wore a sundress and a cute pair of flip flops. I wasn't the only one in flip flops either.

I was married on the beach myself, so I have some experience with this.

I agree with the others - sundress and sandals for you and khaki's with a hawaiian shirt for him would be great. If it were my wedding, I'd even say that khaki shorts would work since we are talking August in Florida. And I'd even say "go barefoot". Hubby and I were for our wedding and we told in-laws (our only real guests) that they could go barefoot too if they wanted.

I had a beach wedding and everyone wore sundresses and khakis.

A pretty, beaded tank top -something w/a bit of sparkle to catch the sunand a flowing skirt, maybe knee length or longer, that a breeze could catch and would look pretty and flow nicely.

Sandals, of course!

I would say skip the jewels.

something like this would look classy with a nice pair of sandals. its $49 at newport news catalog. my mom recently bought & wore this to my cousins beach wedding.

A very good friend of ours got married last June on a New Jersey beach. We thought casual, and my husband wanted to wear shorts and a Hawaiian shirt, but the bride was horrified. Even thought the wedding ceremony was on the beach, the reception was dressy. Although women wore dressy sundresses and fancy heeled sandals, the men wore suits.

anything that excludes the need for pantyhose or knee highs (sand stuck between skin and nylon/silk is not comfortable!).

there seems to be alot of gauzy stuff on the market now-maybe something that "breathes" well?

for me any outfit would have to include some type of sun hat.

if the reception is not on the beach i'de probably opt for beach friendly shoes that i could swap out for something comfortable for whatever type of ground the reception is on.

Beach wedding - a cute sundress and flip flops or no shoes at all. My DH just recently went to a beach wedding in Cancun and this is what pretty much everyone wore. J Crew has the perfect dress:

You can also get this in a halter style in solid colors.

Here's a few more, all at JcPennys:

This one I actually bought for myself to wear to the beach wedding my DH went to, but I ended up not being able to go. The one I have is a different color though(aqua/paisley).

The J Crew dress is $98, the rest are under $60.
