What to pack for DVC stays?

We are new owners and will be having our first stay in December (1 bdrm, AKL-Jambo). We have an 11 year old with special needs, and a baby that will be almost a year old, so having the laundry is crucial for us. I'm seeing some conflicting stuff on the detergent. Some people say to bring your own, because the room is not stocked with much, but others say you can detergent free from housekeeping. Does anyone know a defenitive answer?

We usually only receive one small box (a one load size) of detergent, sometimes 2. I am pretty sure you get charged if you ask for more before your T&T day. We bring Purex all in one laundry sheets....detergent and fabric softener all in one sheet. They are great for travel....sadly, purex discontinued making these, so we stocked up when we heard about that. We also bring those color catchers, too. You could probably pack a small box of detergent and some fabric softener sheets. Is there such a thing in grocery stores? I only use liquid for my home washer. Or you can measure out powdered detergent into small sandwich sized zip lock bags and pack them that way.

To add to the "list", we always bring large sandwich bags and twisties so we can bring our sandwiches down to the pool.

We also bring those collapsible type coolers....the kind you can get for free sometimes when you buy a case of Coors Light. They fit great into a suitcase and then we fill them with ice from the resort before heading out to Publix or Winn Dixie. When our room is ready, we shlep our suitcases up to the room (we are too cheap for the multiple tips you have to hand out to the valet and the bell hops), quickly empty them and then head back to the car to fill our rollie suitcases with our food and drink, and shlep back up to the room. It is a chore at the Boardwalk, but BLT or Kidani is a breeze (more than one elevator).

Another option for laundry detergent is the "pod" style, which comes in a bag that holds 14 or more pods. This is what I always take, and I've never had a problem with pods breaking or leakage.

That's my plan if I ever run out of the Purex sheets. Forgot about those....better option than measuring out powdered stuff.

You want to have one of these! This is our own "Disney Box". We got it at Walmart and it has wheels and is lockable. We keep it permanently packed and ready to go with full sized toiletries, OTC meds, beach towels, plates cups and forks (for our studio stays), laundry pods, a fleece hotel blanket (triple sheeting isn't enough for me), spices, brita pitcher and filters, lanyards, magic bands, scissors and sewing kit, duct tape, bandaids, moleskin, extra set of car keys, battery chargers, first aid stuff, our disney park bag, ponchos and an over the door shoe organizer.

This is beautiful! Exactly what I had envisioned! I will need to get to work on one. Love the logo. How did you do that??

My cousin had it made for us by her friend...I think her friend used a Cricut? It was meant to be a window decal but I couldn't help but use it on our disney box. It was too perfect!
