What to pack for DVC stays?

As we plan for our upcoming first DVC stays we are thinking of putting together a small bin that we can always have stocked with things we will need for a DVC studio or 1 bedroom unit. We thought we could have it stocked and always ready to go! We plan to make the 10 hour drive to WDW instead of flying so no problem putting it in the car. Would love to hear what basics we will need and things we don't know that we need! Obviously salt, pepper, coffee and filters, but what should be included in our DVC bin?

Good plan. And how exciting to be going for your first stay. Spices, more than just salt & pepper, a lot of people use a small fan for "white noise" at night, toiletries as aurora said, some people keep their Disney clothes in it, as they don't wear them at home, bandaids, stuff for blisters, sunblock, aloe, maybe an over-the-door hanging organizer that folds up flat, etc. Lots of people will give you ideas. Try putting Owners Locker in the search, and you will see poeple discussing what they keep in it. Alcohol (booze) It is great you are driving, so you have the room to bring it. I fly, so only what fits in the suitcase and passes airline inspection for me. But I do keep a Disney bag at home with my DVC card, Disney Chase credit card, AP card, Disney gift cards, small notebook, bandaids, Mucinex, hydrocortisone cream, tylenol, etc, ready to go anytime. :flower1: Have a wonderful, fun trip.

Very helpful! Guess we should pack extra dish soap and some real utensils to prepare foods? Extra paper towels?

Coffee, filters, creamer and sugar (unless you plan to ....um, "acquire" the sugar packets from various quick serve places). You only get coffee replaced on TT day.

Paper towels and dish soap are provided. However we bring extra paper plates as just a few provided.

I would second bringing shampoo/conditioner, very small sample size provided. We also bring a small fan, and now a clock radio since we like to listen to local radio and I NEED a regular clock. We bring our own coffee and filters and request a large pot from housekeeping if we have just the little pot.

Welcome home!

Laundry detergent and dryer sheets if you do laundry while at Disney-gets expensive to buy it there

Utensils are provided in 1-2BR. Studios, less so, but all you get is a microwave there so how real your meal is kinda varies.

We bring our full bottles of toiletries. We fly but get Florida Tours to pick us up, so we take advantage of the grocery stop. We play Supermarket Sweep and get basic food and drink things for the week. That said, we do bring things from home (Tastykakes, Pepperidge Farm GoldFish Crackers). So food that you can make sandwiches or whatever since you have a kitchenette. Case or 2 or 3 of water, some sodas, etc. If I think of more, I'll ETA this post.

scissors Lots of food bags are hard to get into. I fly with carry on, so mine are the kids ones.

We also bring pump hand soap and a small egg pan for making egg sandwiches. We actually also bring just a small sized regular skillet for scrambled eggs since DVC only seems to provide a really huge one. We fly and still bring them, haha!

Britta water filter or pitcher. If you get a filter for the sink bring the tools to put it on. it will save on water purchases. Rain ponchos, cooking spray. Reynolds wrap, Microwave bowls and plates. I always take extra garbage bags.

We also stay in a studio. And we drive.

I don't bring extra paper plates. I bring actual plates. And we wash them. Same with bowls, silverware and mugs/glasses.

I also bring a sharp knife. Something that can cut a tomato or bread.

an alarm clock, if you prefer not to use your phone. I like a tap light; if I wake up in a dark room it's easier than trying to figure out how to turn on the lamp. Scissors, as PP said. Zip loc bags - if you take a bag or backpack to the park, you want these to protect your phone, camera etc in case a ride is wetter than expected. Comb, brush, band-aids.

Napkins, oven mitts, muffin tin, nail clippers, razors, toiletries, park shoes, mouse ears, cozy blanket, knives, coffee filters, clothing

THANK YOU! There are so many things I never would have thought of like real plates, pump hand soap, cooking spray, Reynolds wrap, garbage bags. Easy stuff to put in a bin and just grab and go when we head out.

Chip clips, larger glassware ( studio glasses only hold 8 oz max.), advil, benadryl, fingernail polish remover, and nail polish, ponchos, extra clothes hangers, laundry hamper, Shout...ummmm Halloween decorations, umbrella, charging cords, toothpicks, ICE TRAYS ( for studio fridge)

If DH were writing this, he would say a good wine opener, a Blanket of Power ( long story) and 100 toy Aliens from Toy Story...yes he has 100...and they come out every trip and are placed on counter under the TV in our studio.

We live 10 hours away as well and still fly and own two OLs...we drove last month and still enjoyed having the lockers.

I did have silverware, a couple of towels and some plastic dishware that we never really used so I took them home and put more stuff in their place.

I keep a bathing suit cover-up, WDW PJs, underwear, socks also in mine...I don't actually have to sit on it to get it closed but it is close.

These are AWESOME! And I never would have thought of chip clips. Really need to check out an OL. Really helpful ideas.
