I have been having the in laws over for several years for Christmas morning where we have breakfast. I am running out of different ideas. We have done breakfast pizza, egg casserole, buffet style with scrambled eggs, pancakes, muffins and sausage....

What do you fix special for Christmas morning?

I make homemade cinnamon rolls ahead of time and then pop them in to heat up after the presents are opened!

We always have fil over christmas morning so I make a frenchtoast casserole the day before. We usually have scrambled eggs, sausage etc with it. Everyone loves it!

My oldest believes that french toast and hot chocolate is the ultimate Christmas morning breakfast. :confused3

we eat the candy that santa brought for breakfast. :)

We developed a tradition of going to my mom's for biscuits and gravy on Christmas morning. My son and I head over there still in our PJs.

We make an egg souffle casserole that we put together the day before, pop in the oven when we get up on Christmas morning and enjoy! We also get scones from a british tea shop . . . yum!

Donuts! They're our favorite breakfast treat and I feel too quilty eating them any other time!

When I got married, I carried over my own family's Christmas morning tradition. We have fried chicken (soaked overnight in buttermilk), gravy and biscuits. The only problem we have is that nobody makes biscuits, so we have to resort to the frozen kind.

Cherry Cheese souffle. It is amazing! No cherries in surprisingly. It is made with Cherry Courmandine cheese, white bread, and milk. It is super creamy and you put syrup on it. It is my favorite! We don't always make it though because the cheese is very hard to find.

for 'lunch'....

breakfast is make ahead scrambled eggs [oven scrambled eggs from allrecipes . com lots of great recipes and they're rated!]....

and there's a bakery down the street that has the best pound cake. we buy it the day before [$16]. it's my christmas treat not to have to cook....we eat half for our breakfast and half served with the lunch.

we had breakfast dinner last night and i made a variation on monkey bread for 'dessert', one of our favorite breakfast treats here.

don't ask me what i'm serving for lunch yet. lol.

We always do this creme brulee french toast which is much like a french toast casserole. Just make it the day before and pop it in the oven that morning. It is sooooo yummy! Everyone loves this Cristmas morning tradition!

Recipe (from Allrecipes.com)

Creme Brulee French Toast

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons corn syrup
6 (1 inch thick) slices white bread (french, challah etc.)
5 eggs
1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon brandy-based orange liqueur (Grand Marnier®, optional)
1/4 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS
Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Mix in brown sugar and corn syrup, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Remove crusts from bread, and arrange in the baking dish in a single layer. In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, half and half, vanilla extract, orange brandy, and salt. Pour over the bread. Cover, and chill at least 8 hours, or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Remove the dish from the refrigerator, and bring to room temperature.
Bake uncovered 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until puffed and lightly browned

This is my favorite dish to make for breakfast entertaining. It is Swiss bacon hashbrown. Its very yummy and I make it the day before and just bake it at the last minute.

2 bags of frozen shredded potatoes (hashbrowns)
1 lg. sweet onion, chopped
1 lb. bacon cooked and cut into bite size pieces
2 cups of shredded swiss cheese
butter and veggie oil
salt and pepper or season salt

In a large skillet saute onions in a little butter until lightly browned, then set aside. In the same skillet cook the potatoes in a little butter and oil until they are browned, you will have to do this in batches or use a couple of pans. Add salt and pepper or season salt to taste. After they are cooked place the potatoes in a large rectangle casserole dish. Gently combine them with the onions and spread into an even layer. Next arrange bacon pieces on top the potatoes, cover and refrigerate. When you are ready to finish and serve, preheat oven a 350 then cook for 15 minutes, top with cheese and cook for 5-10 minutes longer to melt cheese.

We always have pigs in a blanket (cresents and lil smokies) and Sausage, egg, cheese breakfast burritos. FAST and EASY!

We make or buy a fruit platter then have cinnabons (don't know if they are only in Canada?).

French Toast Casserole (very good)

1 loaf texas toast
1 pkg cream cheese (250)
10 eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 cup syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
cinnamon

Spray/grease 9x13 glass pan
cut bread into pieces/squares...I usually go across 3 x with a knife both ways (if that makes any sense)
place 1/2 of the bread into dish
cut/cube the cream cheese...spread this on top of the bread
place the other 1/2 of bread on top...I usually place it making sure to cover any holes etc
Pour mixture of (eggs, milk, vanilla syrup) on top of the bread
Push down with a spatula making sure no bread is left dry (it will raise again)
Top with cinnamon
Cover and leave in the fridge over night

Bake @ 375 for 45 minutes UNCOVERED

This is soooo easy and very yummy! Enjoy!
