Ok; I'm at a loss. I've made my Christmas lists for the kids. DD is so easy this year but I'm struggling with my 9 year old son. Everything on his list is leaning towards video games. I bought a few items but want something that he'd enjoy that isn't video related. Any ideas? I'm stumped. :confused3

My nephew who's 9 wants Legos, especially the Star Wars ones. My kids love getting magazine subscriptions. Bakugan (it's a toy/game) is popular with boys this year too.

If you DS likes videogames, he might like one of those videogame chairs or a beanbag chair (my kids have the Lands End ones which have held up great).

I hope this helps!

I have an 8 year old boy. His list has a bunch of video games on it. The non video game ideas are...matchbox cars, remote control car, big seek and find book, movies and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.

My 9 year old says Transformers, Lego Bionicles (any Lego actually), the Golden Compass books, Pokemon and Monopoly. He's into animation, and I/ father Christmas have also gotten him animation software and cartoon making stuff. I don't know how big Dr Who is in the US yet, but my son and his friends all love Dr Who, you can get books, DVD's and toys in the range, and he might like it because it's a bit more unusual. If you don't know about it, it's a UK Sci Fi programme about a time travelling Dr and his companion, v. cool! it's from the BBC so might be on BBC AMerica?

I have an 8 year old (almost!) boy like this. He's a video game maniac. I'm getting him an electronic circuit set, a marble/gear toy, a Moon in my Room, and legos. Check out fatbraintoys.com - they have some really neat things.

My 11YO DS loves Dr Who & has for the past few years. He watches the episodes with his dad & would love anything Dr Who. I may have to add a t-shirt to his Christmas list.
Also, if he likes comic books, you could expand his horizions with Asterix & Obelix, Tintin or Japanese Manga. My DS loves all 3 of these series & you can get them for about $10/book or less. Borders has a great selection & they often have coupons for 25%-40% off.

Manga is a very good idea, my boy's just getting into it, thanks for the reminder, think that'll be his stocking finished off!

My 9 year old boy has asked for: skateboard, venus fly trap plant, globe, tech deck course and board

My 11 yr old boy has asked for: Under Armor shirt, Baseball Helmet

My 7 (almost 8) year old boy has asked for: Robot in my Room, Rubik's Magic, Pogo Stick / Ball

Of course they have all also asked for a Wii!!!!!

My 1 (almost 2) yr old boy says Santa will bring TRUCKS!

Have fun!!

What is it with Boys and video games anyway - I have taken them away from my 4 y/o - now he only gets to play his leapster occasionally. If it were up to him he would sit in one spot and play it all day long.

My 9y/o daughter has asked for an EyeClops BioniCam which came down in price 30.00 on Amazon right after I bought it for her - they also have night vision goggles which look pretty cool.

My DS8 (and a half) also has many Wii games on top of his list. I got him some Bakugan (he has none) and Diary of a Whimpy kid books, pajamas and a shark (his fav animal) necklace.

I don't know but it makes me feel so guilty buying so many electronics. I try to keep them to a minimum. Plus...cha ching! They can get so expensive. There just doesn't seem to be much of a choice for boys their age, plus we've tried to simplify Christmas this year. The bionicam sounds cool; thanks for the idea!

Our DS-9 turned in his Christmas list last night. After bed I calculated that he wanted $3,000. in gifts. That isn't happening.

The list and ideas:
Wii
Wii games
Anything Star Wars-figures, games, all movies ever made on DVD, Legos
Pokeman(This is huge with the kids here right now)
A UK Wildcat Jersey (he has taste)
A stuffed lamb(collects those, he still has one from his baby years)
Webkins
Bakugon
Rascal Flatts concert tickets
