We're driving to International Drive from the Kennedy Space Center and was wondering what type of change/money I should have on hand for the tolls?

Are the booths staffed?
I'm guessing it's cash only - do they accept bills?
Is it quarters only, or do I need to bring dimes too?

I'm asking as I'm trying to avoid what happened to us before:
We got stuck in Greater Chicago one time at 2 toll booths. One "ate a quarter" and then we didn't have another quarter but threw in 3 dimes and it didn't register...on and on it went :sad2: By the time we got to the next booth we had no more change left :guilty: We were in a rental car and when we got back home we wanted to pay online but then had to try to figure out which toll booths we'd been at  :faint:

Thx for any info on this!

cheers,
:flower3:

I don't recall exactly how much it cost but toll booths are manned and do accept cash. It is designed that cash paying drivers separate and go right while drivers who pay using the electronic toll system stay straight. Everyone merges back together after paying the toll. If I remember correctly, you don't really experience any tolls until you are must closer to the Orlando International Airport. Depending on the route taken, you may be able to avoid some of them. At times, it felt like every 2 miles I was paying a toll. Quite the difference from Maine!

BTW, they do accept bills because many of the tolls were more than a dollar.

Thx a mint for the reply & info :thumbsup2 That's great news since we're actually driving up from FLL to KSC the nite before too so this will relieve a lot of the stress of having "exact change" for every toll.

Wow, that's great - thx a mint for the link robert@dvcstore :thumbsup2

Just be aware on the weekend that many of the manned booths are closed and the exact change lanes are the only ones open.

They are doing this as a cost cutting measure for the agency.

Thx a mint for the heads-up, Kathy :thumbsup2 We're driving mid-week but I guess I'll bring a tube of change just in case. :goodvibes
