What to expect for DL's 60th anniversary in 2015 (Starting May 22)

Did anyone else read that on the refurb Soarin' ride they are redoing the fly over scene of Disneyland? That should be interesting.

I wish they would make an announcement soon about any 24 hour event. I have two children turning 16 who either want to go to the 24 hour event or Dapper Days in September.

I would rather go to the 24 hour event because I selfishly hope Hatty will be revealed. Chances are HM will be in refurb or have the holiday overlay during Dapper Days.

Oh man...I hope they do an early unannounced celebration. .I check out on the 22nd!!!!!!:sad1:

I wonder if they will offer any special tour or restaurant/dessert party for parade and/or fireworks.

The early concept drawings suggest that the area in front of Main Street station is the best area to watch the fireworks and building projections. I am guessing a guest will need to claim their spot super early here. Hoping they offer an alternative. We plan to do both BB F! And Carthay Circle WOC.

I just booked a trip for my 20yo daughter and myself for the first week of August!! I will be going for only one day with my husband and a few of his co-workers on April 22 during his business trip, but none of the 60th anniversary decorations or activities will be going on yet. So I broke down and squeezed in a "back-to-school" trip for my daughter and me, because we are Disney obsessed!! We are WDW AP holders/vets and went 6 times last year. We live in Alabama and can't make the cross-country trip very often. The last time we were there was for her post graduation trip in May 2013. We are beyond excited!!

Hopefully there's something really cool on the day of the actual anniversary. I booked my wife and I a trip for a few nights including the actual night of and the night after in the fairytale suite. We took our kids for 5 days last year (been several times to WDW, but my first to DLR) and had a great time. This trip will be more for checking out all the stuff for the anniversary, tours, etc. and probably riding small world 100 times as it's my wife's favorite and it was closed for refurb when we went last time.

No, it's in the disneyland hotel. It's really nice though. It's our anniversary plus the 60th for the park (just our 13th). One of those "once in a lifetime" things for us. We're pretty excited though. Just hope the kids don't find out... Ha!

I hate to outsource the news, but according to Micechat
"TDA’s marketing team is now proposing to host a 60 Hour Party in early 2015 to begin Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary. Both parks would open on a Friday morning and continue to operate for 60 hours straight all weekend long. And regardless of how many people complain about the latest price increase, you can bet both Anaheim parks will be packed that weekend and likely break attendance records once again. Start looking for your parking space now."

It is generally fine to quote other sites here with news. This link is from May 2014 and does not reflect anything current I have heard about the 60th anniversary. There has been some discussion about a 24 our event but I do not think anything has been announced.

I see this was your first post so please do not be discouraged from making more posts. Welcome to DIS!

I thought I read somewhere that the Disney World Soarin' was being redone to be more international and the ending scene would be in the Magic Kingdom. I do not remember them saying they were redoing the Disneyland version. I wish they would the film is so old and has dust/dirt spots on it which is distracting.

Boy, you sure know how to celebrate, padstack1978!! I had the unbelievable fortune of spending 2 nights in the Fairytale Suite, a couple of years ago, and it was amazing!! Don't plan too many activities because you'll never want to leave the room! It was the most magical experience ever!! If you really want to make your wife feel special, get her a tiara to wear while she's there. She'll feel like a princess!

Soarin at DCA is currently under refurb supposedly to fix the deterioration of the experience and put in new, more advanced projectors. The rumor has been that a new international experience will come - probably the same one rumored for Epcot - and that one theater at DCA will show it and the other will show the legacy California version.

Oh, cool, thanks. Do you know when the DLP one will open?

Thanks Hydro. I appreciate the response, and look forward to lots more interaction with this community.

There is no Soarin at "DLP" which sometimes is used to refer to "DL park" when not used to mean DL Paris. ;)

Soarin at DCA will reopen in May and some have said it may have an updated finale of the DLR flyover. An international film is rumored to come in a year or two. Know one really knows but I suspect it will be similar at Epcot and DCA.
