hi everyone , soo excited as we just closed on our DVC and I booked our first trip today, we're staying at AKV, with concierge for the first 3 nites, then switching after to a SV 1 bedroom. The first 2 days of our trip are my husband's and son's birthdays, so I'm wondering what I should request for that, or if they will offer anything when Concierge contacts me.

Also, any good feedback on the sunrise safari? we're considering that as well.

They would be able to assist you with ordering a cake. We had one for our anniversary once, and it was deee-lish! Also, the Sunrise Safari was an absolutely terrific experience. It is wonderful to get to go through the safari at a slow pace along with an animal expert. You can get some great photos and learn a lot. Plus, you do get to see a little bit of the backstage areas where they keep the animals (you see them from the bus, you don't go in or anything like that). I don't know where they will have the breakfast now that Tusker House us a buffet breakfast, but when we had our breakfast it was outstanding as well. Enjoy!

Are the soft drinks individual bottles/cans and are they available all day? Last time we stayed concierge (not at AK) we would swing by and grab a Diet Coke, bottle of water, etc. on our way to and from the parks.

Also, are any of the mid-day snacks diet friendly? I saw mention of cookies, goldfish, trail mix, but any fruit or less fattening items usually available?

Thanks.

I last stayed concierge level at AKL back in December 2004, and they did have cans of soft drinks (Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite). They had water in pitchers, but not bottled water. From what I've read online, the WDW concierge levels stopped offering bottled waters because some guests were apparently taking ridiculous numbers of them.

As far as midday snacks went, I think that pretzels and goldfish crackers would be about your best bet diet-wise (since they are baked instead of fried and not high in fat). I believe they also had fresh fruit like apples and bananas.

SO, this means that conceirge level is now bookable?? I am going to be booking this week and next for our June 2008 trip and would love Concierge level....I think!

This level isn't Savannah view though right, or not guaranteed??

The Concierge villas open Dec 1st. MS started taking reservations in June.

Concierge consists of five 2BR lockoffs on the 6th floor. Three of them face the Sunset Savanna, the other two face the pool area. You can request a savanna view but it's not guaranteed and since it's likely to be fully booked at all times, 40% of those who book Concierge will get the pool view.

Good luck!!

I realize it is going to be very early o'clock (sunrise, duh!) but as sunrise is quite a bit later in January than in June I was curious as to the time we will be expected to gather for our early January sunrise safari.

Thanks for any experience from those who've done this in the winter! :goodvibes

We did it in early December last year and I believe the meet time (at the hotel lobby) was 6:45. You are essentially finishing your breakfast when the park opens.

Called today to take advantage of the 7 month window for June 8-13, 08 stay at 1 BR AKV. Wanted concierge level the whole time. Was able to get CL the first 2 days request Savannah view. Then Savannah view the rest of the stay, WL for concierge. Any suggestions on how to make it better? Should I request a level floor or a trail or just hope for the best?

hmm, this is odd. when I asked about requesting a savannah view for our concierge room, she said you couldn't do that. I could mention it at check-in. This was a reservation made with developer points, so I"m wondering how hard it would be to call back about it. It wouldn't be "in the system" the regular way, right?

Hi florep1,

What did you mean by "WL for concierge"? Are you moving to WL and staying concierge or was this something you booked through DVC?

Thanks! :)

I was confused by that too but I think WL stands for "Wait Listed".

When I called for my reservations, right after I told them I wanted concierge level, she asked if I wanted to request a Savanna view or a pool view. She did say it was a request only and not a guarantee. After I hung up, she called me back fifteen minutes later to get my email address to send info. She also said the IPO needed it. Plus, he had to read some form letter regarding the possibility of construction noise.

Hmm...that's interesting. We're booked June 10-20th, AKV 1-bedroom concierge level. I was told that all of the 1-bedrooms are Savannah view (apparently wrong information). No one told me about the possibility of construction noise either!

I would like a studio for Labor Day weekend next year! I don't care about the view.

But I am booking at 7 months, so it ain't too likely.
