Hello fellow dis-ers! During our upcoming trip, we have ADR's for Kona Cafe for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (not all in one day :rotfl2:) and everything on the menu looks so good! For breakfast, I am thinking either the Tonga Toast or the Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes, for dinner, either the Pomegranate Pork Chop or the Coconut Mango Chicken, and for lunch, I just can't decide, everything looks so good (especially the Island Chicken Sandwich...) Has anyone eaten any of these dishes, or eaten anything especially good/bad at Kona?

Thanks so much for your help :wizard:

We haven't been there for lunch or dinner but the Tonga toast are amazing . We love them so much we go there every trip.

My mom had the Coconut Mango chicken and liked it....I had the bbq pork tacos, (they are a soft shell and SOOOO yummy) and it's served with macaroni salad. Hers was served with homemade potato chips, also good.
I always get the tacos now, and I have to get the banana chocolate brulee...YUMMY is all I will say, it's a must do even if I'm full....

DH likes the teriyaki steak and I like the rib eye. We both like the Kona cone.

The title of your thread should be, "What not to eat at the Kona Cafe?" I have eaten at Kona plenty of times in the last few years, and it is wonderful. I have never ordered something I did not enjoy.

Definitely consider the sticky wing and crab cake appetizers. My favorite entrees at dinner are probably the tuna Oscar and shrimp and scallops. For lunch, the coconut chicken and the fish tacos are excellent.

Don't forget dessert!

The teriyaki steak lunch platter was very good! The pasta salad was surprisingly delicious.. a little kick to it. Everything we've ever had there has been great! Oh and try the sticky wings!! yum yummm!

I've never eaten lunch there, but love the macadamia pineapple pancakes or Tonga toast for breakfast. My husband gets the Big Kahuna.:rolleyes1 For dinner he likes the Teriyaki steak and I love either the Tuna Oscar or Pomegranite Pork Chop. The mahi mahi is also very good though.

Never tried Tonga Toast (not much of a banana fan), but I LOVE the Pineapple Macadamia Pancakes :worship::worship::worship::worship:

Often for dinner I will have the sticky wings appetizer as the main course. It is about a dozen wing pieces plus a fair size salad.

I have a problem with eating at Kona. The problem is that everything on the menu is good and I can't decide what to order! :)

I've enjoyed Tonga toast for breakfast and the club sandwich for lunch with creme brulee for dessert. The sticky wings are good, too! We shared that as an appetizer.

We're doing lunch again at Kona on our next trip. For as much as I enjoyed the club sandwich, I'd like to branch out and try something different. I'm eyeing one of the salads, the pork tacos, or the Poly lunch plate. Decisions, decisions.........

We had dinner there earlier this year -- I had the teriyaki sirloin and DH had the shrimp and scallop dish -- both were very good. We got the potstickers appetizer and I wasn't crazy about them -- I think it was the sauce they used that I didn't like.

For breakfast I love Tonga Toast (yet in any other fashion, I don't like bananas). When I stay at Poly - I have this EVERY morning be it at Kona or at Capt Cooks.

For lunch - I love the fish tacos.

For dinner - the teriyaki steak.

I also really like the Kona Salad that they have at both lunch and dinner as well as the chicken wings.

I too have only eaten breakfast there (though I plan on lunch during our upcoming December trip). Sis & I split the Big Kahuna and an order of the yummy, yummy, Pineapple Macadmia Pancakes. The pancakes are a MUST! I do recommend getting the pineapple on the side so that you can choose how much you want on. The Macadamia Nut Butter alone is worth the $10 price of the entree!

I am very envious of you getting to eat there for three different meals! Looking forward to your reviews.

Mmmm, everything sounds SO good! Thanks for all the suggestions. DBF and I have decided that we will order one Big Kanuna and one Tonga Toast for breakfast and split them. My only problem is that I still have no idea what to get for lunch and dinner because EVERYTHING looks good! I guess I will just have to close my eyes and point at the menu to choose :rotfl2: Am very excited to do a dining review once we return!
