We will be flying in from Ottawa last week in April. Because we're not allowed carry on luggage, do you think it's better to retrieve our luggage before getting onto the bus? Last year our luggage didn't get to our room until after dinner, which was about six ours after we touched down in Orlando.
Do others opt to do this?

If I was in your situation I probably would retrieve my own luggage or at least one bag for the group that had our essential items in it.

And if you're waiting for one bag, you might as well wait for all of them IMO. The only time I might do it differently is if I had a ton of luggage that I didn't want to schlepp through the airport.

Go to flyertalk.com and read the facts - you are in fact permitted some items per CATSA, and there are daily reports from YOW and every other Canadian airport. A laptop carry bag plus medium purse should be adequate for most travellers (and is in fact the limit in many countries)

Will you be clearing customs in Orlando?? If so, you will have to claim your bags at customs, go through customs, then place your bags on a conveyor that goes to the main terminal.

So instead of placing all on the conveyor that goes to the main terminal, just keep one that has your necessities for the 1st 24, then send the rest on their way to the main terminal and DME
