:3dglasses Hello!

What do you all do with your pin collection at home? I've been cleaning the house and continually finding pins I had forgotten about! Do you all keep your pins on display? If so, how? I am in need of ideas! :confused3

thanks!

I have two pin binders, one for my keepers, and one for traders. Both are in my closet, and I bring my traders with me when I go to WDW.

Who's next?

What do you all do with your pin collection at home?

I made a couple of hangers for my pins... What I mean is this.
I went to Walmart, and in the office section, they have 2'x3' (or whatever size you want.) Corkboards. I got some black fabric, almost denim-like, kind of heavy. I hot glued the fabric on the corkboard. Then you just stick the pins in it. The show up very nice against the black background.

You can hang the whole thing on a wall. The corkboards I got, have a small oak-looking frame on the outside, so it looks nice.

I made a christmas one too, and made a border with some green and red wraps, and made a border around the outer edge.

I dont have a picture now, but I can PM one to you if you'd like....

mickeem- that certainly sounds creative! i would love for you to PM me a pic when you get a chance. I'll have to investigate the supplies next time I got to walmart

Debi- okay, stupid question, but what is a pin binder? i apparently have missed something in my travels!

i don't have a lot so I just have them in a small wooden box on my dresser.

I have a question though. I just took them out to pack for our trip and I noticed that one is missing it's back. Can I get an extra back at WDW?

Yes, the pin stands throughout the parks and resorts and the big pin store at DTD sell a package of the Mickey shaped backs.

Mickeem - Sounds like a really awesome display.

My DS - the big pin trader in the family - keeps his in a zipper enclosed binder with the plastic sheets (for trading cards). This way the pins can be seen.

It's very easy to put together.

That's really cool! I think I might try that. Right now, I have my pins on my DIS lanyard hanging up in my office at work. I need to bring them home so I can wear them on our upcoming trip.

This is what I did for DS's pins

I did the same thing as mickeem, except I found a corkboard that could be taken out of the frame. I was able to just stretch the black felt over it and snap the frame back in place, no cutting or gluing necessary. I have 2 of them hanging in my room - one with normal pins that is way way too full and one with solely my Star Wars pins. I think I have to go and buy another frame soon for my expanding pin collection.

:sunny:

I feel like I need to catch up with all of you - I only have 3 pins! Hope you all have insurance to cover the small forturne you have in pins! You guys are so creative.

debster812 - awesome.. my ds would love something like that too.

mickeem - thank you for posting a great idea. Your board looks totally awesome as well. I'd do something like that for my pins (yes...i'm addicted as well.) lol

Apologies in advance for any potential hijacking

To make DS's pin display, here is what I did.

We were sent a gift basket to our hotel and it came in the Mickey Head Icon shaped basket that I used. It's a wire mesh basket, so I lined the inside edges with craft foam. I then filled the basket with green floral foam. I traced a Mickey Head on cardboard, and cut it out. I then covered that with craft foam as well. I wired that to the basket. Then we just arranged the pins the way DS wanted them, and pushed them in. Between the craft foam and cardboard, they stay very nicely.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I am the Anti-Martha (minus the jail time of course) and crafty projects are really not my forte. I was quite pleased with how it turned out.

Debbie
