An elderly aunt just passed away and we found 8 bins filled to the brim with never opened Happy Meal toys. They have to go back 20years. I'm sure there are complete series sets. Other than ebay, does anyone have a good suggestion for these toys. I would donate them, but I'm concerned about safety issues. TIA

WOW! What a find! I'm sure there are some collectors out there that would pay big bucks for the collection you just found. I'm sure if you search on the internet you could find some collectors who specialize in toys/fast food prizes. The fact that they are unopened totally adds to their value. Good luck!:thumbsup2

I would search for collector, sell what I can and give the rest out at Halloween or something.

What you are not able to sell you could maybe donate to an elementary school. My kids have a treasure chest they get to choose from once they earn a certain amount of tickets. My boys are always bringing home unopened Happy Meal toys from McD's.

I can't comment on whether they are valuable or not. However, I give these out at Halloween and the kids love them. They pick out the toys over candy!

I've been to 50s style McDs that display them. Maybe write to corporate and see if they want them for that?

Also, dentist treasure chests if you want to give them away.

That's what I was going to suggest.

I just googled McDonald's collectors and there is actually a McDonald's Collectors Club. (who knew :confused3 )They just had their 2011 convention. I bet if you contacted one of the club officers they might be interested in the collection.

Another idea - save some and use them as Christmas tree decorations. Hot glue a ribbon loop for hanging! Easy stuff!

If you know of an organization sending things to the troops, you could donate non-valuable ones to them. They give them out to the kids they come in contact with in countries like Afghanistan.

we used to give those out as presents / treats on the peds ward when i worked as an inpatient nurse (in addition to stickers, etc). they could take them home.

Give Kids the WOrld might take some of them for their surprise bages they give out every day to families:thumbsup2

there are collectors out there that will pay for them, i would try e-baying it. years ago we had a garage sale and my mom put out a bin of our old toys (used with our names even on the bottoms of some). someone asked how much and my mother said 50 cents each. the person was like no, how much for them all....my mother knew then they were a collector and trying to low ball her. she said she wouldn't sell them all to her and the lady huffed off without showing interest in anything else. we ended up giving them to a family friend. they had a 50s style basement complete with a claw machine. to our surprise they put them in cases on the wall, they didn't want anyone to go home with their new treasure! it was like toy story 3, we were glad they ended up in a good home. if they are valuable and you donate them say to a thrift store, someone will end up profiting off them anyway. to make ebay easier you can just sell them in one or a few giant lots.

My Mom used to collect them. When she downsized from her house I called the local childrens hospital. They would take all the new in the bag toys. I liked the fact these toys were going to sick children. All the opened ones, we sold at a garage sale and gave the money to the children's hospital.

I would love to have them and would pay you for shipping. I teach first grade and am always looking for things for my treasure chest. Kids earn prizes for doing their homework, winning a challenge, etc. It gets costly to keep buying trinkets. PM me if you are interested and I will gladly take them all.

I look for these types of items to give to my doctor friends who participate in the medicine without borders program. They hand these items out to the children who come for medical/dental/eye needs
