What to do with expiring points?

Hi,

We bought into DVC on our trip last October, and got sold a June use year, even though we take trips in October:confused3, so when June came around this year we already had 200 points to bank.

We were going to use them for a christmas trip to Disneyland Paris, but member services still weren't booking for christmas by this time last month, so we had to come up with something else.

I sent my sister and her boyfriend for a couple of days to DLP in October, and my friend and I will be going for 4 days in March, I can't extend my trip because the eurostar tickets are booked and they are non refundable, no exchanges etc.., but that still leaves me with 32 points from my 07UY that will expire at the end of May.
My sister wanted to go again, so that would have gotten rid of them, but she told me 2 days ago that she now can't take the trip. :sad2:

What do I do with them? Do I just have to bite the bullet and let them die? I really hate the idea of them just expiring, but I can't think of anything else to do with them. If you can think of any other options, please let me know.

Thanks.

32 would cover a short rental for someone- offer them on the rent/trade board?

Thanks for the quick replies.

I don't really know the first thing about point rental, would I have to make a reservation and then try to rent it, or just say that I have the points for rent, who wants them? How does it work?

Give them to me, I will use them for you.:lovestruc

Why not see if your favorite charity could use them for a Make a Wish family or something like that?

For renting points go to the rental board and put in the the amount of points, when they expire and how much you want per point.

Do your research and read the sample contracts so you know what you are doing.

You can either make the reservation (ie, rent the points and they remain under your control) or you can see if someone wants a point transfer. You get 1 per UY so if you haven't used that yet it's another option. Then the person who gets your points has the full control and you don't have to do anything else.

If you know of a local charity (Kwaianas, Ruritan, school, etc.) you could make a reservation and then donate that to them to raffle off (and then change the reservation name to the winner's name).

These are banked points, so they can't be transferred. You can only transfer current year points.

Ah yes - considering I was just looking at transferring last night on the website you'd think I could have remembered it for 12+ hours! :lmao: Sorry OP.

You could also contact Give Kids the World. They sometimes have need for rooms. My sister donated several nights a few years ago.
