Hello everyone!

So our wedding is fast approaching and my mom has been planning on shipping down the dresses and tuxes to Disney so we don't have to worry about taking them on the plane. Has anyone shipped their stuff before?

Carol, my planner, told me I could ship her down some small things, like the cake topper, etc... but can I ship the items to the hotel? To a steamer? (which btw who does everyone recommend?)

TIA :wizard:

Sam

I've heard that Carolynn Allen's is a great place. They'll even deliver your dress to your room and steam it there.

I recommend Carolyn Allen's for your dress. Cram in it a box and fed ex it down to them (that's the hardest part, I promise). Sue will call you and confirm that she got your dress and they will hold it until you're ready. She'll bring it to the hotel and steam it for you.

They are also part of Jim's Formalwear, so if your guys use those tuxes (just go to your local Jim's Formalwear to select the tuxes and get sized), you just send Keith (also at Carolyn Allen's) the shirt, tux, shoe sizes, etc and the tuxes will also be brought to the hotel.

After you're done with your dress (and the tuxes), Sue will come pick them up and ship your dress back home for you.

It took a LOT of the stress out of figuring out how to get everything down there.

You can ship stuff to your hotel - a lot of brides have done that as well with great success. :thumbsup2

Another recommendation for Carolyn Allens. I was so sure I would carry my dress on the plane with me because I did not think I'd be able to part with it at UPS. Finally I came to my senses and shipped it through UPS with insurance in case anything happend to it. It arrived at Carolyn Allens and they let me know immediately that they received it.

I also shipped 6 boxes of stuff to Port Orleans and when I checked in they let me know that I had boxes waiting and within the hour they delivered them to my room!

How did they suggest you address the boxes? I have 8-9 boxes that I need to ship :scared1:

You label the boxes like this:

Resort Name
Resort Address
Resort City, State ZIP

Hold For: Your Name
Check-in Date: Your Date

Out of curiosity how much did you pay to ship them over?

I went through UPS and paid whatever each box weighed. I think some were around $8.00 while others were $12.00. I also took out insurance on the boxes in case they were lost or damaged, so that adds to the price of each box

My wedding dress cost $25ish to ship with FedEx and $35ish to ship back with UPS (Carolyn Allen's shipping provider).

What does Carolyn Allen charge to steam your dress?

I LOVE these boards!!!!! The airline was going to charge me a fortune to carry it on the plane. This is great info Thanks Ladies!!!!!
