What to do Thanksgiving Day?

Well, our plans for T-Day were cancelled. We were supposed to drive about an hour to my parents lakehouse and enjoy the rest of the week there with them.

They are both sick and don't feel like going. Dad said he didn't feel like driving an hour just to get in a different bed. I totally understand. I have no problems with it. I feel bad for them and hope they feel better soon.

But they have the turkey and stuffing, we have the vegetables, rolls, and pie stuff.

But it's also just 3 of us now. So what to do. I was thinking of going 3.5 hours to San Antonio but DH doesn't seem excited about that. DS has only an on post pass for Thursday and Friday but I thought it still might be fun.

Anyone have any other ideas? We are just east of Dallas. TIA

Pick up a small fresh turkey today, cook at home. If mom and dad are close by take them over a platter.

One of my co-workers is taking her two sons to see Bolt tomorrow. It is just the three of them and then on Friday they are having Thanksgiving with friends.

I offered to bring them chicken noodle soup or whatever they wanted...they want to be left alone and stay in bed.

That's exactly how I feel whenever I'm not feeling well.

Have you thought of maybe going out to eat like at Cracker Barrel, they have a pretty good thanksgiving dinner?

Go out to dinner, althought it may be hard to get a reservation, and go to a movie. Sounds like fun to me!

If you can't get a reservation, cook a small chicken or turkey, go to the movie and go out for dessert!

Well you could pick up a fresh turkey breast and bake that for the three of you.

Or you could keep talking to DH and talk him into going to San Antonio (Ft Sam Houston I'm guessing) to see your DS. Maybe you could buy dinner with him on post?

We usually have friends over and cook for Thanksgiving. This year I'm making reservations at one of the nicest restaurants in town. I figure it's still probably less than I would end up spending if I bought all the fixings for the umpteen dishes I seem to have to make just because it's a holiday.

Happy Turkey Day!!

Maybe do the turkey breast? They are small and cook quickly. Then maybe do something fun for the three of you. Hike, play ball in a park, make christmas decorations, rent a movie you wanted to see and make popcorn.

We ahve done all of the above at one time or another. I think we are going for a hike this year. :)

I vote for San Antonio, Thanksgiving can be lonely and I am sure your DS would love the company.

I went to San Antonio once, back in the 90's, and I loved it. The River Walk is just so cool and festive. Maybe it will be decorated for Christmas.:santa: I know your DH's vote counts more than mine;) , but that what I would do.
