What to do on the "Off Day"at resort?

Hi guys! This is our first time scheduling a mid week, non park day for our Spring Break 2019 trip. We have a 9 and 5 year old and our car. We are staying at Beach Club, so obviously there will be pool time. (also a first, so excited!) But what else is there, once the pool gets old? Would love to hear what you do!

I agree. SAB never gets old. I would sleep in. Have a nice breakfast and go to the pool and relax. The purpose of a down day is to rest and regenerate. I, personally, wouldn’t even think about getting in the car to go somewhere else that day

We sleep in, do the pool, and go to Disney Springs for shopping and dinner, then back to the resort for an early night.

I would also check out a visit to the ice cream shop "Beaches and Cream",,maybe make a dining reservation.

Mini Golfing
Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf – Just a short walk from the boardwalk area (near the Swan & Dolphin resorts) is Fantasia Gardens, 18 holes of whimsical miniature golf for the whole family, with a dancing hippo and xylophone stairs. Or, if you’re looking for a more challenging experience, there’s Disney’s Fairways — 18 holes that will test your skill a bit more with hazards, traps and roughs.

Just an idea*****Divide into two teams and set a 1 hour time limit.
Head off with your phones and find as many resort hidden Mickeys as you can--record (photograph) yourself with the hidden Mickey.
Now you have some great souvenir pictures.
Winners buy ice cream for losing team.

Ditto. We rest! Staying in that area, we sleep in, watch the boats from our balcony, hit the pool(s), walk around the Boardwalk for snacks and/or meals, and turn in early for another rope drop.

Off day! Sleep in. Have breakfast. Cape May has a character breakfast. It’s a perfect time to have a later breakfast ADR at one of the Epcot resorts. Not rushed. Enjoy SAB. Have an afternoon nap, in the evening have dinner at one of the YC/BC restaurants or along the Boardwalk. With a 5&9 yr old, I’d do an early night.

Depending on how long your stay is, the pool likely won't get old. But it can certainly close due to bad weather. (I dislike that pool myself because it's so popular and crowded, but my kids love it) Other things to do is that you can walk 5 minutes to Swan and Dolphin after the sun is gone. They have a big playset there, good for ages 5-12 I think, and a beautiful sandy beach next to a stunning lake. Nearby is also the Fantasia Mini Golf, a very cool golf course full of Disney designs. (It was closed last month when we were there.) You kids will enjoy that. Be sure to ask for the Disney course, not the regular green course with nothing Disney inside. And be sure to do this after the sun is low, or the playset gets burning hot.

Yes, eating one Cape May breakfast is a must. The food is pretty good, and the Characters are also good. If you plan for a later breakfast, like around 10:30, the restaurant isn't so crowded and you get more Character time. Well, but I don't know about Spring Break. Even then, eating breakfast at Cape May is worth it on a non park day.

Chill out in the room. Walk to Fantasia Gardens to play mini-golf. Rent a surrey on the boardwalk, or a mini-boat on Crescent Lake.

Pool. Disney springs. And then also walking around the boardwalk area is great.

There are also lots of hidden nooks and crannies in beach club for reading.

Rent a Sea Raycer or two and tool around on the lake and take it over towards HS.

A pool day usually. If it's not a great pool day we might just switch our "off day" to a day we know will be nice.

When we scheduled a non-park day it went pretty much the way PP have mentioned.

Woke up late (around 10am) and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast - as much as was possible with a 9 and 11 year old LOL
Spent some time at the pool, kids joined a couple of the organized games
Went over to Disney Springs for lunch at the T Rex, wandered around the Lego and Star Wars store, and just enjoyed not having a schedule to adhere to

We had planned to go over to Fort Wilderness for the Chip & Dale campfire singalong, but the kids decided they just wanted to spend the rest of the night at the pool so we ordered pizza, the kids swam and then we watched the outdoor movie before tucking everyone into bed. It was a great day and totally recharged us for the next park day

I agree, SAB does not get old!

Seriously I could sit in that pool all day as could my kids. My 14 yo (now 15) played volleyball all day long! Well and then would go float in the lazy river but back to volleyball! Go get ice cream, go back in the pool, get a yummy turkey sandwich from the Marketplace (DH and I split it), go back in the pool.

I also got there before 9, waited at the gate, got my band and set up shop for the day (a table). Then I peacefully went swimming for a good 1/2 hour (maybe longer) when there were very few people in the pool. Then my family and everyone else came down but it was still GLORIOUS!!

The only thing that stinks is the food options, so we left the pool around 4ish to shower and find dinner elsewhere. It's not like the Poly where I can eat Pork nachos (minus the salsa and cheese) or coconut meatballs for lunch and dinner!

SAB really is an awesome pool and we just love the Boardwalk area to walk around too.

Wake up late. Hit the pool. My kids love the pool games, especially at SAB. DD really liked the campfire the last time we were there. But being that close to DHS I would be tempted to add on a day and do 3 FP+, especially with TSL. I would go into the park for just those 3 rides.

Last trip we did a split with Poly and BC. On our rest day at Poly my kids got "bored" by 5 -6 pm but we had agency exclusive tickets and I couldn't add a day. When we went to Beach Club they loved it wanted to stay in the pool rather than go in the parks so I don't see a problem with spending an entire day at SAB and the resort. My SO and I did leave them at the pool/resort and hit up Epcot for a date night.

We love the surrey bikes! You can get three laps in in the 30-minute rental window. A lot of fun!

Then go to Ample Hills.

We walk around the boardwalk/resort hop. Our kids (6 and 8 on our last trip) were never much for napping. We would get up, book a character breakfast at Beach Club, chill in the pool, order some lunch poolside. After we eat we go explore the other resorts.. Take the ferry to HS or wherever and just ride on the transporatation. We don't have a subway system where we are, so they enjoy riding the monorail around or taking the ferry to different locations. We love walking around Animal Kingdom resort and seeing the animals and riding through the Contrmporary, etc.
