What to do on the last day?

I'm wondering what people suggest for the last day of the trip. Our flight is at 7:30pm and we're staying at Grand Floridian. Would you try to sneak one last day in the park or spend the day lounging around the hotel? Or something else? Also note that we have young kids (3 and 5). We won't have access to our room, obviously.

When we've had late flight outs we've always spend part of the day at the parks, but my DD is older than your children. I imagine it will be a long day for your little ones if you're at the parks and then flying and getting home late at night. A day at the pool relaxing might be a good idea. I know some folks go to DTD, but we're not shoppers.

In your case I would go to MK at rope drop and stay until I needed to leave for the airport.

We drive so we normally sleep in some and then pack and leave. We have packed the car up and spent the morning in the park and left after lunch, but that was so very painful knowing that we were leaving that day. I cried when we left the park! :rotfl2:

We use the resort luggage check in service to take our checked bags to the airport and then leave our carry one with bell services. We keep a small bag and our refillable mugs with us. We go to downtown disney for lunch and walk around looking in the shops. (Trying not to buy anything unless we can stuff it into a carryon. Lol). Then we head back to the resort and lounge around the food court. If using magical express, you'll probably be picked up at 4:30. We have a pretty low key day. Our flights are usually after 7PM too.

Our return flight is around the same time. DDs will be 4 and 7.

We have a 7am ADR at Chef Mickey's then we are going to revisit whatever park the girls want to until time for MDE.

Even if all we do is spend hours perusing gift shops instead of attractions, that's what we'll do. But we do intend on going to a park for a few hours.

Not really helpful, I know.

If you are using Magical Express, your pick up will be around 4:30. So that would give you almost a full park day if you choose to add another day, which would be minimal in cost. We always try to leave late in the day as well, and usually visit a park we want to catch one last time. We'll do a mid-morning TS breakfast that day too, after we check-out and leave our luggage with RAC.

I've seen people suggest hanging out at the pool (you can still use the resort amenities) but we don't like doing this since we don't have a place to change, and would prefer to shower after.

Ditto! We always get a late flight (at least 6:30pm or later) and spend the day soaking up the MK sun for one last time. We do resort check-in early in the morning, leave our carry-ons at baggage services, make it to MK by rope drop and enjoy our day until the ME comes to pick us up.

If you have an extra day on your tickets, then it's nice to leisurely do stuff that want to repeat or see. You can also do a character meal at a park, if you have a ticket, or at a hotel. There's also events outside of the parks, like tea parties. You could ride the monorail and ferries around and go look at other resorts. Someone mentioned DTD. You could always just swim until right before checkout; you may even be able to extend checkout by an hour or so.

I'm going in August and put last day our flight also leaves at 7:40. It will be me, DH, and DD age 2. I figure let's get the most of that last day! We can rest and sleep in the next day, plus I think DD will sleep on the plane, car ride home then transfer her into her bed at home.

We have an 8:15 ADR for Crystal Palace in MK, plan to hit a few favorites, then heading to HS to see any shows we missed. DD will prob nap in her stroller this one day ( the rest of the days we will take a mid-day break).

For us it kind of depends on how many days were there, how much we did, how tired we are etc...It is kind of nice to be able to sleep in and pack-up on last day (rather than night before), go for swim etc and then leave just before check-out time. We then go to a park or DtD for nice lunch and a few last rides or shopping.

Our flight leaves at 7pm on our upcoming trip. We plan to do the resort airline checkin early in the morning and then leave our carryons with the front desk while we hit MK. We plan to leave MK at 2pm to get back to the resort and get our carryons and then grab a lunch at the food court in order to be on our DME bus by 4pm. :thumbsup2

Last month our flight was @8:05pm. ME pickup time was 5pm. We stayed @ AKL-Kidani. Late breakfast @ 9:45am @ Boma (under 10min travel time with direct shuttle to Jambo House). Late breakfast allowed us to sleep in late, complete airline check-in in lobby, & store carry on bags will bell services. Reserved 3 FP+ for AK (park based on 5 min travel time from Boma). 1st FP+ overlapped dining reservation, so we could do 2nd FP+ within 20min of 1st FP+. We were able to do a few things before 3rd FP+ which overlapped lunch reservations. Then late lunch @ TH, 1pm. We left the park right after lunch. Watched TV in resort lobby, purchased snacks in gift shop, went out to see animals in the Savannah... relaxed until ME pick-up. DD6 said this was one of her best days. She slept the entire plane ride.

Since staying @ GF, I would try this with MK. Several dining options @ hotel & park. If character meals important, 1900 PF & CP. Pick top 3 rides/meet & greet.

We plan to do this for our upcoming December trip, BLT & MK.

I wouldn't worry about leaving super early in the morning. You need your rest because you won't really have to opportunity to go back to your room past 11 and you don't want to have meltdowns because of a lack of sleep later in the day.

But I would spend a leisure day at MK. Maybe book a ride or two, or a nice meal. But I wouldn't leave much for that day as in, do everything you want to do at MK before that day and you can go back on your departure day and do some stuff you want to do again.

I'm assuming your DME departure is in the 4pm hour so it gives you at least 5 hours of non-room time you have to fill. If it's 2pm and you're done with MK, just head back to the pool for a nap.

We get our bags left in storage at hotel, and head to a park--- this time mk and doing Crystal palace breakfast

Head back to hotel by 3

We have always gone to whatever park has EMH and then done a late breakfast at Chef Mickey's. That way we get to see Mickey on our last day. Then we usually do some shopping at the CR, and if time, some shopping on Main Street. It's a perfect way to end our trip!

We always go to a water park on the last day because you don't necessarily have to stay for a whole day, and the younger family members get to burn off some energy so they aren't as antsy on the trip home. The past few trips we have driven so we are able to stop at my uncles help to clean the sunscreen off before leaving but I'm sure you could wash most of it off in the showers that the waterparks have to get the chlorine off of you.
