In April I will be going on the 7 day western cruise for my honeymoon. I was wondering if you choose not to do any shore Excursions what is there to do on the islands? Is it better to plan an excrusion or is there plenty to do without it?? Since we have 2 days at sea i don't want to stay on the ship.princess: princess:

at key west..we didnt do any excursions. We went to all the various shops and went to the Hard Rock Cafe and then went to the southernmost point. Had a blast!!!:teeth: ....at grand cayman we went on an excursion, it was Captain Marvins Stingray Excursion, it was awesome!!, after that we went to a few shops and went to the Hard Rock Cafe there too...at Cozumel we didnt do any excursions, we went to all the shops that are right near the port and went to the Hard Rock Cafe there also, it was fun!...at Castaway Cay we all just relaxed at the family beach and snorkeled and had the best time!:D ::yes:: :boat:

hope you have a fun time!!:D

If no excursions appeal to you. you may want to recondsider staying on the ship. Although you have 2 days at sea the pool areas will be very crowded on those days. If you are just looking to relax by the pool I say take full advantage of the empty ship. I did this with a bloody mary and a book and had the adult pool to myself on Grand Cayman day. ( My DH and DD did an excursion). Either way you are going to have a magical honeymoon. Congratulations!!!

We rarely purcahse excursions from the ship. We like to do our own thing while in port and don't want to have to adhere to a schedule (other than when the ship actually leaves). I found Frommer's Caribbean Cruises and Ports of Call to be a good resource. The book has a separate section for each Caribbean port, with sub-sections for beaches, shopping, tours and transportation. You can book your own tour or excursion, or just use it as a guide to plan your own thing.

We used it to figure out what we want to do, and still have an old copy somewhere, in case we find ourselves heading to a new port. I usually pack it for cruises, too. If we end up getting re-routed (as we have in the past), we've got a resource to help us decide what to do while at the unscheduled port.
