What to do in the rain?

It will cost money, but you could go do Quest. Although in the rain, Quest may get crowded.
Check out the activities at your resort, or visit another one and see what they have going on.

What's the latest forecast from you who are down there right now? We arrive in Orlando at 9:43 tomorrow morning.. at this point I'm hoping for some breaks from the rain here and there.. I know the whole sunny vacation thing is not an option at this point lol... but SOME dry patches would be nice, we'll be there tomorrow through Sunday afternoon...

Pop on a poncho and do what you would have done in the sunshine!!! Thats our strategy. Sometimes you do see the park get a bit quieter as people leave due to rain.

We've always put on our poncho's and headed to the park in the rain. We live in Scotland and it rains A LOT!!! At least in Florida the rain is warm. :D

We were there last August for Tropical Storm Fay..... she hung around for the last 5 days of our 7 day trip. There was no way I was going to miss out on the parks waiting for it to stop raining :rolleyes1:sad2::rotfl: We were soaked to the bone.... uncomfortable..... cold even :confused3 but we still had fun! The lines were non-existent :thumbsup2

We're here now too. i'm a little tired of being wet, and it gets COLD after a while BRRRRRRR

Someone asked about the forecast... rain and 70's, make sure you bring a jacket and a rain coat/poncho. We had dollar store ponchos and they are great for what they are, but with all this non-stop rain I bought the Disney ponchos and they're better.

MK was great this morning. DD4 and I walked on and stayed on everything as long as we wanted.

We're at VWL, so we just did the craft time 2:30-4:00 every day, and ran around the lobby a bit.

If you're a DVC member, you can get some movies for the store for free. I think you can get one or two at a time, and they have a million.

My mom's been asleep most of the afternoon... I think I might go to DTD after the girls go to sleep. Or maybe Wishes, if they have it. I didn't think they would have it last night, but then I heard the fireworks go off.

My dd and her college roommate are at VWL now too. She said she has never seen so much rain all day long and we were there for Hurricane Charley.
They are still having a good time, and doing a lot but she feels bad for her friend. Hopefully the rain will slow down some for the remainder of their time there. Told her at least your not a the beach and there always is something to do in Disney. Tonight they are going to Chef Mickey's and visitng the other monorail hotels.

Hope the rain stopsor least least slows down for everyone visitng.

You might as well as put on your ponchos and head to the parks. Yes you'll get wet, but you won't melt, and the lines are definetly short. True some "outdoor rides" won't be operating, but there's a lot to see and do "inside" the parks. You might consider one day going resort hopping, and see what other resorts are like.

We did some slogging, but with a 3.5 year old and a 5 month old we can't keep it up, or do it as efficiently, as we would without the little kids. I tried to find as many indoor shows (Mickey's Philharmagic, Country Bears, Muppets 3D, etc.) to nurse the baby in, but sometimes you just need to sit down with the baby in a dry spot and those are few and far between. I hope the family we handed our fastpasses to on the way out of DHS gets some use out of them.

does anyone know when the bad rain (i know it rains every day in june) will let up? Ill be there 2 weeks from tomorrow

We are at WDW now too. And dang is it raining LOL. Heres what we've been doing.

Sunday night-DD-10, DS-12 DS-4 and I went to MK. Friggin POURED! So much fun though. We did Buzz 4 times, CoP , ate and went back to room.

Monday- We all went to Epcot. Fantastic day. Did all the majors, plus a lot of the not so major attractions and went back to the room at around 330. Then we hit MK for a quick dinner and POTC,then back to the room.

Tuesday-Slept late. Made it to HS at like 11. Did Star Tours, Muppets, Little Mermaid, TOT RNRC, Indiana Jones, ate and were back to the room by 4.

Tonight we are just hanging out so we can get up early to hit MK at rope drop.

The rain sucks, but we arent letting it bother us, and that is with a 4 yr old and a 10 mth old!

For someone who is there now (or who has been there before in constant rain like this) how are the character sightings and photopass photographers? Do you see them just as often as normal or do there only seem to be a few here and there?

I know they don't allow it, but if you could go barefoot in the parks, life would be much easier in the rain versus any kind of shoe, sandal or flip flop that is going to lead to blisters if your feet get wet.

The only other problem I would have if you got soaked would be going to inside attractions where the A/C is cranking.

Ya know, that exact thought crossed my mind too. It wouldn't so much be a problem for me as I already plann on wearing crocs without socks but my husband Dsteps dont usually wear sandals, so i need to find them comfortable shoes that wont hurt after wearing, but also will be ok if they get wet.

Poncho up - if it is warm enough shorts ( especially the quick dry kind) so your bumm does not get too soaked ( don't forget the quick dry type of underwear - cotton sucks) and get some water based full toe support sandals like Teva's ...

Oh yea if the poncho gets you too hot - the newer waterproof breathable clothing is also great - and you can get fully taped seams/breathable jacket and pants for under $100.00 for the pair...for you folks in the US, you have a mail order company called CAMPMOR ( google it - should be the first hit)..right now they are selling a fully seam welded nylon waterproof set for $19.99 ( not breathable though) and their own brand of breathable for $100 for the set..when you get to their site look for the Sphere line of waterproofs ( no I don't work for Campmor - but even as a Canadian and with MEC in Canada - these guys are way cheaper) ..

The grab yourself a waterproof brim hat like the Tilley brand and you are warm and dry and ready to go without lugging a poncho around

I let my DD's wear there water shoes in the parks if it is raining. They are rubber soled so they do not slip and you can get them at Wal-Mart for $7 a pair. Since they are meant to be wet we have never had a problem with blisters or the shoes rubbing.

That's true and a good idea, although my DstepS will look HORRIBLE! :rotfl:

It is not supposed to be a fashion statement....comfort is the first priority. I broke down last year at Blizzard Beach and bought the younger DD the watershoes they had there(there were princess's on the toes!!:)) They were a fortune compared to wal-mart but she had the matching bathing suit and I could not resist.
I have worn my watershoes to the parks as well and believe me they do not go with anything I own!!(black with hot pink and Lime green stripes):lmao::lmao:
