What to do in Port/Cocoa beach the day before?

We're renting a car and driving to the Radisson the day before we cruise. (This is for Carnival in March, but we have the Magic booked for Thanksgiving 2005.)

What do any of you do after checking in? We'll be arriving probably between 4-5, and returning the car Saturday morning. Is the beach too cold in March? Is Kennedy space center close, and/or is that something that needs a full day to enjoy? Are than any near-by shops?

Thanks for any info!:D

We sat on Cocoa beach on 15th March this year and it was very warm. Hope to do the same next March. Very nice place to sit at the entrance to the Port - lots of amenities and always something interesting to look at.............especially the ships! Nat:Pinkbounc

We've arrived at 5 the first year and at 3 the second. We did the pool (it was late Oct), dinner (Kelsey's next door and The Grill (?)) and Ron Jons, plus a trip to the grocery store across from Ron Jons for last minute things (wine)

Kennedy Space Visitor Center is really close and has a great tour and three great museum/centers. The exhibit on Apollo 11 was really interesting especially to those of us who remember it and have an opportunity to explain the monumental significance of the space program to children who can only read about the events. It was $29 for the day, but they must have seen at least 5 movies (2 IMAX) during the time we were there (9am-3pm). Most of it is indoors which was good because it was really hot in July.
