Trying to gauge how much time we want to spend in AK for our mid-Dec trip. Here's what I have planned, but I'm wondering if I'm missing anything, especially for the first and only trip for our 66 year-old mom. Our family has been to AK twice.

Sunrise Tree Lighting Ceremony
Kilimanjaro Safari (or FP it)
Festival of the Lion King
Camp Minnie-Mickey
Meet Pooh characters
Triceratop Spin
Lunch at Flame Tree BBQ

The Pangani Exploration Trail is too much walking for my mom. And we did it in Feb.
I think we're also gonna pass on the Jingle Jungle Parade because we only have 5 nights in WDW and want to spend time at Epcot that afternoon.

I'm contemplating "It's Tough To Be A Bug". Any experiences with a DD5 and DS2 (well, days shy of 2)? What is the fright factor?
Others I'm considering:
Pocahontas-- We've seen this before, but may squeeze it in if timing is good
Flights of Wonder-- Is it worth 1/2 hour?
Kali River Rapids (just me and DD5)-- So we may just wait til our 2006 trip without my mom.

I'd skip TTBAB - my daughter was terrified when she was about 3 or 4 and still at age 11 says she doesn't want to go to it. Same with DD16 - says it's creepy and she hates to hear the children screaming!!!!

We always like Pocohontas, and Flights of Wonder is neat if you like birds. I don't think it's scary, but it is a slower-paced show with large birds, so if you think your children wouldn't sit still and watch an owl swoop by, I'd skip it, too.

I'd skip Kali in December - OK if you stay completely dry, but I wouldn't want to get at all wet with young children and then feel like I had to rush back to get dry clothes.

Have a great trip!!!!

Thanks for the great advice! Anyone else?

Please skip Kali! DS and I got absolutely soaked last October- head to toe - couldn't wait to get back to the hotel to change! Save it for 2006!

Haven't done ITTBAB because ds (7) and dd (5.5) REFUSE to see it!

DH took the kids to our local zoo this past weekend and they absolutely loved the bird show. So we're definitely going to check out Flights of Wonder!

Good luck deciding - hope you've "scheduled" in some "fun"! :teeth:

:) Michele

Our personal favorite is the Lion King show. We took the boys when they were 8,3, and 2. The boys loved it and I think your mom would like it too.
I would also skip ITTBAB, I haven't seen it but I heard that some of the bugs are pretty scary.

We'll be there in mid Dec too. Maybe we'll see you.

:rotfl2: I always forget to include the fun!

What's this "Sunrise tree lighting ceremony"? Does this involve the Chritmas tree out front? Is this something I might be able to see the first week in December, or like the Sunrise Safari, is it only for AKL guests (I'll be at BCV).

Can't remember where I read about that. I don't think it's exclusive to AKL guests. (We're staying at BWV) And I think it's there early Dec like most of the other Christmas stuff.
This is all I know......
Sunrise Tree Lighting Ceremony— Gathered around a towering 65-foot Christmas tree at the park's entrance, carolers will greet you with renditions of favorite seasonal classics.

Thanks, I'll look for it. Also, I remembered that in December there's a real talented and cute group of Christmas Carolers in Camp Minnie-Mickey. I think they're called the Camping Carolers (or something like that).
