What to do Friday before the 1/2?

We'll be traveling from Oregon on Thursday, plan to hit the expo to pick up our packets Thursday evening. I'm wondering what might be a good park to visit on Friday that is the least walk-intensive? I'm guessing we shouldn't be planning much for the rest of Saturday after the event? We'll be staying on a few more days to explore the other parks. We're thinking it would be fun to rent a car for Saturday afternoon to drive over to see the Atlantic...just so we can see we've seen it. Anybody know of an easy/close way to put our hands on a rental car just for one day? We'll be staying at Pop Century.

Thanks!!

DW and I did a half day on the Fri before the Goofy this year. More walking than would like but ok. I think you can rent a car from on Disney property. I think it is outside of the MK entrance?

I think MK probably has the more attractions in closer proximity to each other than any of the parks. Remember that on Friday there will be a WISH meet at Pop about 4PM. If you don't want to "spend" a full parks admission on Friday there are lots of Disney things you can do without entering a park. Visiting DTD always puts me in a magical mood, there is mini-golf, or even visiting other resorts for future trips.

As far as after the half on Saturday....I headed back to Pop for a cold soak, took about a 1.5hr nap (mostly because I didn't sleep well the night before) and then I was in the parks until midnight. I took it slow and easy, but really felt up to almost anything.

As far as a car rental, there is a place on-site, right before you enter the MK parking lots. Quite a few years ago DH and I rented from there for a day trip to the space center.

As Pat has mentioned, please plan on the WISH meet for sure. It will be a fun opportunity to visit and chat face to face with the rest of our Team. That is usually about 4:00 EST-ish.

You might be working on some jet-lag stuff trying to get to sleep before the event. Good luck with that for sure!

As being a fellow West Coaster(NV), DW & I have a problem with time change. We usually don't get to bed until 2:00-3:00am. That's only 11-12pm PST. After sleeping in, we get back to normal fairly quickly.

You are going to be excited so just go with it. You can actually rest better if your tired when you go to bed. So enjoy the day and turn in a little early and you will sleep like the dead. Rest and relax all day and you will flip and flop wide awake all night.

I have found that I perform better in the race if I was active the day before and not sitting around getting stiff.

Either way you will get through it.
