Our plane arrives at 7:30pm. I figure we will get to OKW at about 8:30pm. What should we do for dinner? Should we bring stuff and eat in our room? Should we do sit down at Olivia's? Would the Turtle Pond food thing still be open?

Any suggestions?

Shari

hi there Shari,

it really depends on how tired you are after traveling...in May my daughter and I will be landing around the same time and getting to the BWV by 8:30...I made us 9:15 reservations at Wolfgangs in DTD because that's where she wants to eat....me, I could have a P&J sandwich and relax for the night! :rotfl: ...you could check on allearsnet.com for dining hours and then make an ADR for the restaurant of your choice...

..whatever, you'll be on vacation - so enjoy!

I think dinner at Olivia's would be a nice way to start your vacation. We own at OKW and go there at least once or twice while we're home. I've heard complaints about the food, but we've never had a bad meal there, or even a mediocre one.

This way, you don't have to go far for someplace to eat...

So Do we!!
My kids always look forward to an exciting and loud meal with Mickey right after we dump our luggage.

I would say it would depend on how motivated you are when you get there!

If you are tired, you could always go to Olivia's. If you feel more adventurous, you could go to DTD and eat at one of the restaurants down there. You can take the boat right from OKW.

Have fun! :sunny:

They have burgers, sandwiches, nachos and stuff but also carry some takeout from Olivia's as well. If you are not one to have a big meal at night, just order a kiddie meal. I got the spagetti and meatball... one meat ball but it was pretty big... I am also pretty sure that if you want something off the sit down menu to go, they'll do it. They were really accomodating in Oct.
I believe they serve til 10pm.

Ate at Olivia's this past November for the first time. It was great!! I highly recommend it. It would work perfectly since you aren't going to a park!!! Hope you have a great time! :thumbsup2

I would do Good's to Go (open til 10), or Olivias. Then back to the villa to relax and get ready for the next morning!

if stressed from travel - i'd go to olivia's; if not stressed - i'd go to downtown disney; but i'll never go to goods to go again!...ordered the hotdog and fries and had to return it - the only thing cooked was the hotdog bun!...they not so graciously refunded my money, but they did understand my not wanting to eat a raw dog!

Ok. I's time to start a tradition. DVC is just like having your own second home which means you get to do familiar things that really let everyone feel that they're back home again. Find something that you and the gang really enjoy and do it religiously on every visit. For us, it's a trip to Concourse Steakhouse (even though it's not as good as it used to be in our opinion). Our kids always smile and know they're back home when we head to the 4th floorContemporary no matter how jet lagged we are, how late it is or how long the wait list is.

I think Olivias would be a good choice. I think next to the little bar by the pool Olivias is my favorite thing at OKW.

We are also going in May, but I always take the early AM flight and we are there by noon. So we are eating our first nights meal at the California Grille.

Because we have eaten breakfast at the airport and two meals on the plane, we feel it would be greedy to eat anymore so we get a drink and go to bed! But then, we do travel from the UK!

We always go to a character meal--that makes us feel like we are at Disney! A great way to start the vacation!

Olivias would be a good choice.

We like to do the Cape May Cafe clam bake our first night and then walk over to see Illuminations. Although we have done Yachtsman Steakhouse on our first night before. It was nice but not the fun atmosphere of the clam bake.

I would eat at Olivia's in your situation. Have fun!

It's a tradition for us to go to DTD after we arrive. It's open late so it doesn't matter what time you get in. You also don't use a day's park ticket doing it either. If we don't already have our passes that visit, we'll stop by guest relations and pick up our annual passes so we won't have to fool with it in the A.M at the park entrance. Some shopping always puts you in the Disney spirit while waiting for a dinner reservation at Rainforest Cafe. A few drinks and then back to the resort to let the kids swim and sit by the pool. It's a great way to start a vacation. Then you're fresh and ready for the next day of park hopping :-)

I would probably be too tired to do much, I'd just go to Olivia's. If you still have energy, go for an evening swim or dip in the hot tub.

Thanks for all the good ideas and suggestions.

My cousin and I will have two 6 year olds and two 8 year olds with us. I"m not sure how tried or rested they are going to be after the drive to the airport and the plane ride.

So I guess you can say that our plan is to have 'no plan' but to know our options. :thumbsup2 If the kids are full of energy we can go to downtown Disney and eat/shop. If they are tired but have some energy they need to release then I"m thinking eat at Goods to Go and swim for a little while. If they are starving and want some good food we will eat at Olivia's. If they are exhausted we will either get something at Good's to Go or make sandwiches in our room.

Thanks so much for your help.
