What to do first

Boy that's a tough question. And I'm sure you're going to get many answers. First how about some background information, like who's going, where are you staying, etc. For us we usually get in during the afternoon so after we check in to the hotel we go over to Epcot for a nice dinner and then watch Illuminations.

Are you staying on property at a Disney Resort or are you staying off property? Two weeks will give you enough time to slow your pace down and see most everything. It also depends on what time of day you arrive. I am sure with the long flight and the time change you will probably be tired so I would plan on exploring the resort that I was staying at and having a nice sit down meal on my first day. I always do Magic Kingdom on my first full day because it's my favorite park :goodvibes Check out the restaurant board to get suggestions on some good places to eat and make ADR's as soon as possible!

Panic first. I find that if you panic first, it's all good from there :earseek:

Seriously, if you have a 7 year old, you should head to MK first. Let's face it, that's what kids consider Disney World. Ask your 7 year old what they would like to do - some want to hit tomorrowland and do Buzz, or space mountain (does she like roller coasters, my 7 year old daughter does - it's her favorite). Others might want to go to Toon Town and ride the milder Goofy roller coaster, or visit Mickey or Minnie's house. The spinning saucers, or carousel ride are also favorites.

You really can't go wrong with what you pick, but getting some ideas from your daughter will help.

With 2 weeks, you have plenty of time, so relax, and have fun!

What time of year are you going? Have you ever been to the "World" before? What time are you arriving?

Depending on what time you get in you might want to catch a bite to eat. If you are getting in at dinner time, I would suggest that you head over to the Contemporary Resort and have a meal at Chef Mickeys. Nice character buffet with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Chip & Dale and Donald. You can catch the bus from Pop Century over to the Magic Kingdom. From there, catch the Monorail for your first Monorail ride right into the Contemporary. If you plan your dinner time right, after dinner you can head out to the balcony and watch Wishes over at the Magic Kingdom. Really puts you in the mode for the vacation that is to come.

You might not wish to go to a park for the day, again depending on the time you arrive, so you don't burn a day of admission.

If you just want to take it easy when you get there and not have to run anywhere but your resort, you could always just take it slow and have a swim in the pool and have dinner at the Everything Pop food court.

You can check out either Chef Mickey's or Everything Pop by going to this website:

BTW...You picked a great resort. I really like Pop Century. Have a great time!!!!

Be sure to be at MK for the opening of the park on your first full day, get there early! It's something none of you will ever forget!

Does your DD love any particular characters? Be sure to plan a special encounter with her favs. Have your camera ready! If she loves the Princesses, you might want to schedule a Princess meal at Norway in Epcot or try to pick up a cancellation at Cindy's in the MK. If you don't want to do a character meal, as soon as you get to a park, ask at Guest Services about the appearance schedule of any particular character, they'll give you times & places. It might be cute to surprize her with the encounter.

Tell us what she likes & we'll try to make appropriate suggestions. Is she a thrill seeker? A romantic? A shy child? A dancer? An autograph collector?

How exciting! Your first trip! :sunny:

You are so lucky. 2 weeks to not have to rush and do everything. I would think that visit a theme park unless you are arriving on Day 1 and then I would suggest a trip to Downtown Disney and a nice dinner- maybe at the Rainforest Cafe of a Character Meal. If it is just for the 2 of you I might suggest the California Grill- a personal fav.. Enjoy your trip...

Here is my opinion. Check with the touringplans. com and see which park is recommended. Do you have the hopper option? If so do the EMH park, then hop out of there by noon. Maybe have lunch at a hotel on the monorail line if hopping between MK and Epcot. I think one of the biggest let downs on the first day is going to a crowded park. We are also going in Feb. and have decided to do Epcot on day one. It will be a Friday and from what I have read MK will be crowded. MK is also my favorite park, see it early and then go again on our last day. Good Luck and have a great time!!

Tough question but I would say to go to MK first and do Mickey's Philharmagic! Then work your way through Fantasyland and into Tomorrowland. Break for mid-day parade. Finish up Tomorrowland, followed by Frontierland and then re-ride anything you wish or missed. Do not miss Wishes!!! It's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :flower:

Don't forget to go by "your" pavilion at Epcot's World Showcase sometime during your stay. The United Kingdom pavilion is beautiful and most of the Cast Members there are young people from the UK.Have a great trip.WDW is absolutely AMAZING! :)

If you're staying for 2 weeks at Pop, buy the refillable mugs on your 1st day of your stay--you'll be able to refill them throughout your trip.

Make sure you try at least 1 character meal--if not 2. Pick the meals that have the characters your dd will enjoy most.

For your first day, get to whichever park you pick at opening time. I mean, be at the gate before it opens so you are one of the 1st ones in the park. Then, hit the headliner attraction of that park first. Grab a Fastpass for a nearby attraction. Ask your dd what she wants to ride the most, and hit that on your first day. Since you are staying for 2 weeks (lucky you!), you'll have time to go back and do favorites. I'm sure you'll have a fun trip!

As others have said, I love seeing Main Street and the castle ASAP! Depending on your arrival time, I would totally try to go to Magic Kingdom first. Since you have a nice and long vacation at WDW, you can just go to MK for the atmosphere and not worry about seeing a lot of attractions. Is Spectromagic showing the night you arrive? That is a definate must see.

We like the advice of afternoon breaks each day, back to the room for a nap or swim. Since you have two glorious weeks, you can do that and not even feel like you are missing stuff! I am so jealous! Have an awesome vacation! :cheer2:

Granted, this is just my humble opinion...
On our last trip, we had ADR's our very first night for Chef Mickey's. Although it is a great way to kick off a trip to WDW, it was just too much in our opinion after traveling all day, settling in at the resort, and so on. Next trip, we are going to be more low-keyed that first day. Again, this is just my humble opinion. Have a fantastic trip!!

Thanks guys for all the advice. The picture your comments are painting in my mind is turning into something of an obsession.I think Magic Kingdom is first on our list then take each day as it comes. No need to hurry after all.
Are there any treatments for a Disneyholic.I,m even squirting ketchup on my meals in the shape of a hidden mickey.HELP ME :rotfl2: :earsboy: :worship: :scared:

There is only one treatment that works for me, geordie ric.
And, that would be going to WDW to get a fix!

I had another idea for your first day. There is a tour that is offered daily at 10 am at the MK called the Family Magic Tour. It lasts 2 hrs. and costs $25 for each person. Discounts are available. I have taken and very much enjoyed 3 other tours at WDW, but not this particular one. Others have told me that this tour is excellent. It might be an excellent introduction to WDW!

You can read about the Family Magic Tour and others here...
