Okay....help me with my math.
150 points, VDH.
$245 per point
$23 off = $222 per point
150 x $222 = $33,300
$33,300 - $1,500 = $31,800
Magical Beginnings for 2025 points = $3,000
$31,800 - $3,000 = $30,300
$30,300/150 = $202 per point
Am I looking at this correctly? Am I forgetting anything?
Bingo.Just noticed I only subtracted $1500 for MB and not $3000. Oops!
So It's actually $28,800
$192 per point.
And then if you can use the $500 off with D23 that takes it down to $28,300 or just under $189 a point. Not too shabby.

Story of my life, instead of always wondering I think we should just buy in the near future, i would hate to miss out on years of direct benefits when theyre just going to get me anyways with a new resort I love.So the question I keep coming back to is ā¦do I buy direct so Iām not locked out of the new resorts and add some points at the same time or is it not worth the premium![]()
Need 100 more to round it outHow much do you value it? What I can say is that I never thought a resort would top BLT for me.
And RIV did. So, you just never know what might come along that changes your mind.
For me, I wonāt ever do resale again, unless itās RIVā¦and even then, 900 points is more than enough to handle our current vacations with DVC.
I used to think there weren't enough benefits for direct members but in really thinking about it i do believe there are. Being resale makes it stand out more. Every time ive come there has been something I could benefit from. Being local to Cali there have been parade viewings, the Stacia Martin meet up. Maybe not too much, but some nice touches.I will say, the more I look at selling some of my resale CCV and buying it direct, and start to put some numbers into a spreadsheet, I do start to pull back just a bit. The price differential is still pretty big.
The question starting to come to my mind . . . how much will Disney continue to devalue resale points and/or give direct points more perks? Since I'm already blue card and own quite a few direct points, there isn't a lot I stand to gain at the moment by buying more direct points. But, how will that change in the future? The trend is certainly in one direction, but how soon and how significant will those changes be? Questions we can't really answer - so, how much gambling am I willing to do?
Of course, for these very reasons, you can see why Disney is likely to take actions to further devalue resale because they want to sell more direct points. And, if the existing perks aren't enough to entice people to go beyond a certain number of direct points, then they'll figure out a way to make it more enticing.
The cycle of subconscious rationalization will continue . . .
I just wish they would be a little more creative with the themeing. Like we already have brother cear at ccv and Bambi at vgc and Tiana at vdh. Im excited for fox and the hound. On LSL, I just don't see anything to make me interested to wait. Resort is likely to be massive with a lot of points to sell. I think it's going to be somewhere between RIV and PIT in terms of points charts (with similar types of rooms). Unlike when the Poly Tower opened, even if they combine it with CFW, there are not going to be these massive amounts of existing points trying to book into it like happened with PIT, so I am skeptical that availability is going to be that bad (unless you're a resort view studio/2BR lock-off sort of person). If they do combine it with CFW, I think dues are going to be on the higher side - I don't think we're talking VGF/PVB/BLT levels of dues - if it were opening today, I wouldn't be surprised to see $10/point dues. And, I think a lot of uncertainty remains with the trust structure. IOW, a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.
Or, as @tx911 said, set those points free! LOL.
I'm really not sure what I'll end up doing here. Need to give this all some time.
Thank you! Added to the opening post (along with CFW, AUL, and VDH).
I think you need to just buy 150 direct points and put it behind you, now and foreverI used to think there weren't enough benefits for direct members but in really thinking about it i do believe there are. Heavy discount at restaurants during welcome home weeks, it seems like there's always a MM event going on somewhere, I could be eating at TOTWL tonight, hoop dee holidays, MMB would greatly benefit me for the OTUP, etc.
I know youre already direct, so this is just more me thinking outloud
After 2042 there will no doubt be new crescent lake offerings and thats where the real "I made the right decision" will probably come in.
Im not sure if you like split stays but we can always bank and borrow direct points to stay in the restricted resorts, having up to 450 points at one time with a 150 point direct.
I would be OK with rotating restricted and non restricted resorts for the life of my contract and just buying the minimum needed for blue
I know, its getting ridiculousI think you need to just buy 150 direct points and put it behind you, now and forever
No more FOMO!
And here I am mad that they dont accept cats, discrimination against my babiesIf they had put a washer/dryer in the CFW cabins, it would have made them so much more attractive . . . taking a golf cart you have to pay extra for to some communal laundry room? No thanks. Not for a week long stay or more.
This might be an unpopular take, but I also don't like staying at pet friendly places. I'm a dog lover through and through, but I don't take my dogs on vacation with us - our last dog passed away just a over a year ago, but he always stayed at a nice, luxury dog "resort" with lots of activities planned for him when we went on vacation (I miss him, but don't miss how much that cost me). I know CFW appeals to a lot of people with dogs so they can take them with them, but not me.
The good news is there arenāt too many, really bad choices, and you know what those are so I think youāll be happy no matter whatI know, its getting ridiculous![]()

We will not stand by and let you make that bad decision. Poly or VDH direct, or go home!![]()
