We are arriving in Orlando Friday Oct 2. We should be at the hotel around 2:00 PM. It will probably be too late to go to US so what should we do that first day? Also is US doable that time of year on a weekend? We are obviously staying offsite. We do have the US 7 day pass and also Seaworld/Busch Gardens combo pass for the length of the stay. Are the malls open late on Friday in October? We are totally skipping Disney as this is our 3rd trip in 4 years and we have done Disney twice now on US only once. We haven't done BG or SW yet.

I'd go to Mall at Millenia and eat at PF Changs, but that's just me.

or you could try and do I-Drive, lots of fun things to do there.

Ripley's, Wonderworks, etc. Or like Damo said, the Mall at Millenia, or Florida mall.

or go out to eat and go to the movies

I am thinking probably something on IDrive. We are staying at the Four Points Sheraton Studio City, and I am not 100% if I am going to have a car right away. So this area would obviously make sense. Anyone ever try the big slingshot like ride on Idrive? Looks pretty intiminating..lol

You could do city walk that night. somewhere cool to eat and some shopping there (maybe a movie).

If you are thinking of doing Universal over the weekend it sounds like you are not planning on using all seven of the days on your ticket. So why not go to Universal for a few hours that evening? You can get a good idea of where everything is and be ready for rope drop the next day. Since you already paid for the ticket why spend more money on a I-drive attraction that you won't enjoy nearly so much.

IOA is closed at 6 and USF is closed at 5 for the Halloween stuff.

We have been to US so its not totally new. I know US closed early as damo pointed out. Your right I won't be using all the days, but its hard to get much done in a couple of hours, however you never know we could probably get in a couple rides at US. City walk might sound like a good idea too. What time does it get dark that time of year somewhere around 7:30-8:00?

it gets dark sometime after 8PM. i live on the eastern coast and it's there's still light outside now, probably will be for another hour or so as it starts to fade
