What can we do after the park closes? According to the schedule, MK closes at 8 or 7pm on some nights. That is way early for us, and just wondering what other people do after 8pm.

We have APs, just the regular ones, so DQ is out of the question. Do you think we can take a dip in the pool or will it be too cold this time of year?

Thanks

Head over to DTD... They have Disney Quest that's open until 11pm or 12am depending on the day of the week. Also, the restaurants and stores are usually open till around 11:30pm or so. They have an AMC Theater and of course, there is Pleasure Island to keep only the Adults in the park happy until 2am.

Plenty of things to do and see over at DTD...Give it a shot!

The pools are all heated so it is an option (would just be cold when you get out).

If you don't mind spending a little money there is Mini-Golf at Fantasia Gardens or Winter Summerland. You can go to Pleasure Island or just hang out at the Market Place, theres always AMC if you want to catch a movie (and Disney Quest if you change your mind) . You could head over to Fort Wilderness and catch the Campfire sing-along (that starts at 7pm and will be followed by a movie at no charge). You could plan to do the Hoop Dee Doo or the Polynesian Luau dinner show. You could go to the Boardwalk resort and got to Jellyrolls (if everyone is over 21). You could plan a night at Cirque Du Soleil...

I really can't think of much that would not cost you additional fees (other than the Campfire and just walking around the Marketplace) but there are some options for you to consider. We usually plan for mini-golf, it is not to expensive and it is time consuming :)

pleasure island is $20 but when you buy your ticket you can add 5 additional nights for $5 making it $25 for 6 nights of pleasure island. that's a pretty reasonable price. especially if you like the adventurers club. ;)

Can you still do the five extra nights for $5 if you go to PI with one of the plusses from a hopper ticket or is it only if you buy the ticket separately?

Now that we've come back from our first trip to Disney, I'm helping my brother and his fiancee plan their honeymoon and I know they'd like to go out in the evenings.

If you have Ultimate PH's, then Pleasure Island and Disney Quest are included in the cost. Well worth the extra money!

I have APs and we've done PI but it's not something we're interested in doing, especially since we've got our DSs this time around.

We'll probably go mini-golfing since AP holders get 50% discount. Maybe I'll break down and go to Disney Quest, because the last time we went to DQ, we ended up spending so much time just waiting for a turn at the games. It was such a waste of time.

What times do the stores at DTD usually open till? Maybe we'll just browse around there.

We go to bed. :p
It usually takes us all of a mintute before we are all hard core asleep.
Nothing more awesoem than falling asleep by nine and up and early and the first ones in the park the next morn!

If the parks close early we usually do a late dinner and then till we get back to the hotel it is bed time for us so we can be rearing to go the next morning.

i doubt that you'd be able to add the $5 for 5 night deal on a hopper ticket. using the plus features for a water park is a better value anyway.

if you don't want to go to a water park it is probably cheaper to buy regular (non-plus) park hopper passes and pay for pleasure island and add the 5 nights for $5.

about eating a late dinner.....if the park closes at 7:00pm and you stay and watch Wishes say until 8:00pm, can you make a PS dinner reservation at Cal Grill say for 8:15 and still get Disney transportation back to the car parking area after dining?

Or does everything close up?

Can you drive a car directly to the Contemporary Resort and park while dining?

Thanks,
Shiraz

not sure how long the monorails keep running. I know for sure you can drive your own car to contemporary and park there while dining...

you can always catch a bus from the contemporary to DTD then back to the resort you are staying at.

Also - you can wander around the boardwalk...or watch Illuminations at 9...take the boat ride over to Boardwalk and grab a bit to eat.

Honestly - if I had my way...it would be back to the resort for a night of rest. (preferably on my balcony with a glass of wine watching the animals at AKL. heheh)

We usually are so tired by the end of the day that we hang out around our resort and enjoy it. If you're looking for more active fun, renting a surrey bike at the BoardWalk is a lot of fun. I believe there are also carriage rides and hayrides available (at Port Orleans Riverside and Ft. Wilderness, respectively). Another suggestion would be shopping at Downtown Disney or seeing a movie at the AMC theater at the West Side.

Disney could just keep the parks open like they used to, but then all of us guests wouldn't feel so compelled to go and spend extra money on things like all the diversions listed above.

We usually try to make the best of it when hours are so short by doing late supper and taking our time getting back to the resort and going to bed. I am still trying to find a way to be at MK after 8pm or so without it being during a holiday. Methinks those days are gone.

The stores are usually open until 11pm...so that's how we spend the evenings if the parks close early. Restaurants are open even later, so you can always have a late drink and dessert.

While at DTD you could catch Cirque du Soleil one night...it's fabulous! Then dinner and shopping 'til you're pooped!

Plus there's always resort hopping. Do dinner at a resort you've never visited before, then walk around and browse through their shops. The Contemporary has 3 restaurants to choose from, and several shops there under the monorail. For something completely different, head over to Animal Kingdom Lodge. Do dinner in Boma or Jiko (more variety in Boma at the buffet and cheaper, too!), tour the Lodge, go outside and see the animals from the viewing area, have drinks and desserts in the Victoria Falls lounge, shop at Zawadi on the way out!

Lots to do after the parks close...

Katie

You don't mention the ages of your ds's but one of our favorite things is the arcade at The Contemporary!! We were staying at The Polynesian and their arcade was closed for a private party so we took the monorail to CR and according to my dd's discovered the most awesome thing at WDW!!

What time do they open til? I wonder if I could grab a boat from there to WL where we'll be staying? Or would I be better off just taking my car?

I'm not sure what the hours are but I know we were there until at least 10:30. I know you can take a boat from WL to CR but again I don't know what the hours of operation would be because of park hours. You might be better off driving yourself.

The arcade is huge and it has games for all ages plus on most of them you earn tickets that can be redeemed for prizes!! Very, very fun, even for us big kids!!

glad to see we are not the only ones who crashed after dinner...by the time we got back it be usually close to 11,since we usually ate at another resort, strolled through the shops there and did the dtd waste of time bus changing routine. a couple of earlier night we went to boardwalk ( not tons to do there imo) and dtd to shop. the shopsat dtd and westside were open till 11, the rests. ( at least on the west side ) till midnight and PI till 1 or 2( forget which)
