Okay, I've only been on one
Disney Cruise (12/01) but I am going again in November!!!
Anyway, some things I found useful, and some things I thought of afterward and will bringing in November for sure are:
1)Your own soda/bottled water
(I brought a little too much last time, but it was nice to have, since you pay for soda everytime except at dinner) Also, bottled water came in handy when we were at port, at the pool, or at Castaway.) Maybe a bottle of water for everyone in the party, and a 12 pack of soda.
2) Lanyards for your key are a MUST. You carry it everywhere you go, and half the time you run around in your bathing suit. That key gets you into your room, on and off the ship, and you pay for everything with it. A lanyard makes it easy so you don't lose it, or have to worry about having pockets/bag etc. Try to find something that keeps thing waterproof, that way you can wear it in the water at castaway and at the pool!
3) A beach towel... those little towels just don't cut it on lounge chairs or in the sand.
4) A journal, and make notes of what you see and do.. it is fun to read it, and remember the wonderful cruise you are bound to have!
5) If you can fit them, extra hangers (especially if you have a large party) There are never enough hangers. I brought cheap ones and just left them behind.
6) motion-sickness medication. You never know how the seas will be, and its super expensive on board.
7) Also, bring sunscreen, and aloe. Again, super expensive.
8) Extra film and camera batteries... otherwise you will pay 5 times the price on board or worse will miss out because you will have to wait until night to by it (shops onboard aren't open while the ship is at port!!)
9) Thank you cards for the CM's that really make your cruise. Can personalize your tips for all their wonderful service!
Also, sometimes its good to NOT bring stuff, since space is such an issue.... here are some of my suggestions for what not to bring!
1) Too many shoes! Shoes take up so much space (packing and stateroom space), and I spent most time either in flip/flops or bare feet!
2) Hair dryer. They have one on the ship, and I know a lot of people say its not a great one, but it worked okay for me. Granted mine is better at home, but still I was glad to have the extra space!
3) Snack foods.. YOU DON'T need any more food. You eat and eat and eat. It's a waste!
4) Think of what you will do, and only bring enough clothes for that. Again, space is limited, and if there are more then 2 people in your stateroom, space will REALLY be an issue.
Also, pack a carry-on with this in it. It takes some time for your luggage to get to your state room.
1)bathing suit
2)camera
3) change of clothes suitable for dinner (in the rare occassion your luggage takes long, and you have early dinner seating).
Sorry so long winded. And read these boards. I can't say how much they helped me prepare, ask questions, the people on here are wonderful.. and it helps get you excited too!!
Have fun!!
