Hi everyone. I was starting this so that maybe some of us CM's going in January might have an idea of what to bring with us and what we should purchace for the apartments. I am trying to make a list of what I need to buy, and I think that by having some ideas from past CM's it would greatly help in my decision!

Thanks for the help! :thumbsup2

To bring:
TV
Computer
Wireless router if you have one
Blender
Decorations for the walls if you care about that sort of thing
mattress pad to make the beds softer

There really isn't all that much that you need to bring, they do provide you with a lot. I strongly suggest getting or bringing a router so that you and your roommates can be online at the same time and have your computers in your bedroom or wherever instead of being forced to keep them in the little computer nook area.

Shower curtains, bath mats, soap dispensers, and that kind of stuff you can buy at Wal Mart, however if you can buy it and bring it down with you it's easier, as Wal Mart's entire stock for that stuff seems to clear out during that first week of the CP. They do run out of some stuff.

RE: computers... is there space for a small desktop in the apartments, or should I consider investing in a laptop? My partner will want to kill me if I purchase or build two computers in a twelve-month span, but I might just use it as an excuse to play with technology. :D

There is space for a small desktop in the apartment in the area with the internet connection, but keep in mind that if you set up your computer here, you will be taking up a lot of space. If other people plan on connecting there, you'll be using most of it.

I would make sure someone gets a wireless router, or buy one when you get down there. This way, you can all be connected in your rooms, and you could buy one of those cheap desks from Wal Mart...which will cost you MUCH less than a new laptop.

look at www.wdwip.com it has a great packing list on the site. Though the site is aimed at International College Participants like myself rather than american college program, we live in the same complexs so your needs will be very similar to ours!!!!

Anyway i'm going back to packing as i depart for orlando on Sun 7th October!

Read the list that they provide on wdwcollegeprogram.com.
It is within the log in area, I believe, but that would be where I would start (again).

I have read the list that they provide for you. But I am trying to get more input as some other things that are not on the list they give you. I want to get a survey of what many others have brought.

I thank everyone for the help!

Things to take to heart...

The beds are hard...invest in a good mattress pad. If you have the money a down pillow top worked amazing on my program.

Your roommates will not do the dishes, contrary to what they say at the beginning... bring extra things like cups, forks and spoons.

The apartments are pretty bare and not very homie...I would bring a lamp for the bed room and one for the livingroom. Carpets are another cheap decoration and you can buy cheap disney posters at wal-mart.

While the bus schedule sounds fool proof, it's not...if it's at all possible, TAKE your car! I didn't and regretted it.

You'll need a lock for your locker in the closet.

Take plenty of spending money, you probably won't make anything the first two weeks you are there.

I recommend getting some thick dark curtains. Some times I didn't get home until 4 or 5 from work and you'll want to block out that fl sun.

Before you go, make a list of things you want to accomplish while you are down there. i.e...
*ride the haunted mansion 50 times
*have a roommate dinner night
*ride a seg-way
*take a backstage tour(you get half off being a cast memeber, backstage safari was amazing)
*eat a snack in every country in the world showcase
...these are just some ideas but it will make you do things you've never do, branch out and meet new people, give you a sense of accomplishment and your trip will be so unique

Enjoy every min of your program. Take advantage of every networking opportunity. You never know if you want to come back or who can help you in the future. Sometimes it will be hard and you'll miss home, but once it's over, you'll want to freeze time and go back. Best semester of my life! ;)

Thank you so much for the help. It seems like the more input that I get from people the better. I just want to be sure that I have everything that I need. I certianly appreciate the advice about the list of what to accomplish, that is something that I had not thought about.

Thanks again! ;)
