What time to check in?

I know what the official check in time is...that's not the question!:confused3

Just want to know if there's a "good" time to check in-we have some flexibility in our arrival time...could be anywhere from 11 until 1:00 or so. Wondering if we'll have a shot at a better room location if we check in at 11 & then go to lunch, or go to lunch first & check in at 1?

Thanks

I am wondering the same thing. I can not check in to POR until late and I am just making my reservation. Will I get a less than favorable location with a late check in and last minute reservation? Last year I got a great room with a standard room reservation.

The theory is that the rooms are blocked first based on the guest arriving by ME. I would suggest arriving earlier rather than later because if you get into your room and there is a problem you at least have a chance at getting moved to another room. If you arrive late in the evening there might be nothing else available.

We always arrive before 2pm and so far have been given exactly what we requested. The one time we came in late we can via ME and still received the room location that was requested.

My flight gets into MCO at 6AM (gotta love red eyes), so that should put me at my hotel (ASMo) by 7-7:30 - any chance of me getting a room that early? Has this ever happened to any of you?

I have checked in at WDW resorts that early several times and gotten into my room that early on some, but not all, of those occasions. So, it can happen, but you probably should not count on it.

I check in as soon as I get to the resort. And make sure they know of my requests. If room is ready great if not & they say come back at 1pm & if I got there say around 11:30am I just go & have lunch somewhere close. The one time I came back late to see if room was ready it was a lousy room not the room when I check in the CM said I was going to get. I talked to a manager & he looked & said I was given the room number I requested & I said look again as it wasn't the same room. After looking into it he found out that another CM gave it to someone else. He told us he was sorry & upgrade us up to Club level. I wasn't looking for an upgrade for free just the room I was told i was getting. They had my cell phone number they should have tried to reach me to tell me my room was ready. Or at least put it in the system saying this room is taken. I know it makes it confusing to the CM :) MHO

Will they call you when your room is ready? I've heard that you have to call some number to check what your room number is, is this right?

1) You are given a number to call if your room is not ready at check-in.
2) You must call, as they do not call you.

If it were me I would book the room for the night before and tell them what time you plan to arrive.

When I have flown on a red eye to anywhere I pretty much lose that entire day. So getting into the room and having a nap is a necessity for me.
