What time should we leave for our roadtrip from NJ to FL?

We drive from southeast PA and leave right after dinner, around 6-7pm. Kids watch movies till around 9-10pm, we stop for a final potty break and then not again until DH needs to break. I start the trip, DH does the all nighter and then wakes me up when we hit the Florida border. I drive the remaining. Last year took us 16 hours. We miss the DC traffic because it is about 8-9 when we hit there depending on when we left. The kids slept from 10-6 am so the ride wasn't as bad for them. They had movies, coloring books, games and few little toys to keep occupied. I would suggest looking for a external hard drive that is Bluetooth or wifi enabled, meaning you don't need a USB cable to access the information on it. We have one and keep digital movies on it. Then the kids can access from their ipads. Or just download movies straight on to the ipads before you leave home.
