I would love to get to MK for the opening. What time is the park opening ceremony? How much time in advance do you have to get to the park to see this? Is this after going through security and the turnstyles?

Thanks in advance.

yes!!! i'd like to confirm that time--as that is also our plan

We always go to WDW the last week of August and the opening ceremony has always started not a minute before official park opening time. During peak season, this may be done differently.

At MK, you can usually enter a half hour before, but all the lands will be closed off. You will have to wait at the castle for the ceremony. I did read on the boards that something was being done with the castle recently, and only people eating there could actually enter? I'd check it out beforehand, if you really want to see the opening ceremony. One time my DD got to do it! So exciting for her!:D

In June they did the opening a few minutes before 9am. The train pulls into the station with characters and dancers, they do a little show and then you go in. They do let people through the turnstiles 15 minutes or so before all this happens and then they hold you with a rope near the tunnel before main st. This does not happen on early entry days, there will be no show in the am. At least that is what we have found.

we plan to be there by 7:15-7:30am for EMH at MK. i have heard of "lands" being closed, but we want to be at Fantasyland for "rope drop".....i assume that's 8am. i also read (on DIS boards) that main st. and stroller rental open early before the rides...so you can get situated with your stroller, shop a bit, and be at your "land" for rope drop! right??

We were in WDW July 11th - 18th. The opening ceremony began about 5 minutes till 9. They let you enter Main Street at 9:00 AM sharp.
